stock cd player

okay...my friend has a '99 civic ex and it has a stock cd player.....when he put the intake in he disconnected the battery for safety reasons. now when he turns the car on the cd player asks for a 5 digit code because of the security theft thing. he went to a honda dealership and they told him it was behind the cd player(5 digit code). well we spent like 5 hours sunday trying to find it. we took like the whole dashboad off. the center console around the shift knob and the cup holders and shit....pulled the cd player out...finally....and there as no god damn 5 digit code. Another friend said you have to get the code from the dealership the car came from and then the dealership said its behind the cd player....who the hell is right??..cause theres no number.....at all....any suggestions would help..

hey pppl... i'm the unfortunate person with the messed up cd player.. so the code should be somewhere near the ashtray? the ashtray is on the left side of the driver seat correct? and i don't have that "credit-card" paper with the code because i bought the car used, i called up the guy and he said he doesn't have it...so if i can't find it near the ashtray... what's my other option of gettin' it to work???

try calling the dealership where it was originally purchased and ask them to look it up, you're going to have to show proof of ownership, so you will probably have to do it in person, they have it in the records somewhere because when i got my new cd player they gave me a new card and told me if i lost it to call them, but maybe their service center operates a little differently. so just trying asking a service rep to look it up for you, hopefully free of charge unless they are dicks about it.
