Engine swap help for 99 civic ex automatic.
I have a 99 civic ex automatic with no mods except a greddy catback evo exhaust. I was thinking of swapping in a LS integra engine. Some people say this is a good idea some say it's bad. It just seems like that engine has alot more potential then the d16 in my civic, any help would be appreciated, and if you know of an average price for that swap fully installed that would be kick ass so i don't get ripped off, ok peace.

if u want to keep it auto....it'll be around less than $1100 including the labor and motor...you can pick up an auto ls motor B18B for on average $500 no more than $700 and as less as $300 depending on the year and miles at a salvage......yeah the ls motor has plenty of potentials......but u can also convert to manual for not that much more if ur doing a swap anyways....but if u keep it auto it still can be fast....well hope this info helps....peace

no more than $700? yeah for a 94.
you need a 99-01 B18B engine to keep it legal. that'll run you about $1500 for a GOOD price. if you want a 5spd swap its going to run you about $700 on top of that. Last edited by slowEJ6 : 05-05-2002 at 09:39 PM. |

so if i just chose to keep the same engine in my car, the d16, how much would it cost me to convert it into a 5 speed, cause i'd like to be able to shift my own gears.

if you have inspection or anything like that or if you want the motor insured or if you get pulled over and just by chance a cop checks the numbers on the engine - the engine HAS to be the same year as the chassis or newer - otherwise more than likely yer on some trouble. so he needs a 99-01 B18B. You have a 92 civic and i believe you said in another post you got it out of a 94, so thats fine.

well the jdm htr is probally around $5000-$7000....from past experience around $400 for the labor.....but i dunno the cost of the usdm itr version because they are in high demand its hard to find one....u can find the jdm version on the intenet....www.ardperformance.com.....but i say skrew the type R and get a gsr for thousands less and the money saved, if well spent could easily kill most cars that come ur way.....

ard doesnt sell complete swaps, so i dont suggest them. www.hondamotorsonline.com/shop/ install is about $500-$700 - good price, i wouldnt pay more than that. B18C5 isnt worth the price imo. you have bragging rights but - for the money. B18C1 is the way to go. |
