The tranny strikes back....
Yep. For those of you who have read my other posts, its ****ed again. It now grinds going into 1st. Also grinds into reverse when at a complete stop. And of course, 3rd gear still grinds. This shit is getting annoying. This will be trip number 3 to the service dept. And once again my car will be in for 2-2.5 days I'm sure. I wish there was something I could do, but I pretty much out of luck. Fortunately I still have that certified warranty . Like its doing any damn good. Wish they'd just replace the entire ****in tranny. I mean that'd solve the issue(i'd think so anyhow). GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRrr! I hate this bullshit..........

Man, I feel so sorry for you and all the problems you've had with your car. Hopefully Honda will come to their senses someday and just replace the whole tranny. If you bring your car in enough times, you'd think it would be in their best interest to just do that.
Anyway, good luck with it.

Well, actually, each state has lemon laws, where they will replace the vehicle after so many times you take the car in, and it doesn't fix the problem. I'm not sure that applies here though.

Dude i would just go into Honda a be polite but irrate. Dont curse them out but explain to them you dont have the time to keep bringing the car in here time and time again and that they should just but in the new trans to permantly fix the problem. If you approach it the right way they will probably do it.

Looks like the lemon laws are only good for new cars. At least that's what I got out of it. http://www.lemonlaw-ohio.com/ohio_laws.html I'm documenting everything so I'll have some sort of record.

Yeah I could try that. Their service manager is a jerk though. I would likely end up getting very mad.

Contacting someone at Honda Motors. Thats what my Mom had to do with my brothers Ford, She called Ford and told them what was going on and how disappointed she was because they always loved ford car [my families sick, Im the exception I guess ] and that if the crappy service keeps happening and the dont get the car fixed she would never buy another car from them again, and that she would make sure everyone knows about it.
Good luck..

I'll be going there tomorrow hopefully.
This is my log so far.... Car purchased late October of 2001 10-22-01 – Dealership was not going to give me Honda floormats even though the Certified Warranty states as such. Salesman gave me the mats at his expense. Engine bay was very dirty. Not cleaned as was stated and required by Certified Warranty. Noticed abnormal rusting in engine bay. 12-11-01 – I replaced blackened spark plugs at my expense. Also noticed heavy deposits on pistons. Spoke to Sales Manager at Hidy Honda. Required Certification Checks had not bee performed. Scheduled a time to bring the car in. Oil had not been replaced either among other things. I replaced the oil at my expense. 12-20-01 – Brought car in for Certification Checkpoints & to check on transmission noises. Transmission was grinding going into 3rd. Received car back later that day. Wiper blades still not replaced. Blades were very streaky. No issues cited by dealership. Parts ordered by dealership for transmission. 1-14-02 – Car was brought in for transmission problems. Was able to get a rental car after speaking to the Service Manager. Received car back on 1-17-02 2-1-02 – Allen bolt on rear passenger’s side strut is stripped. Had to use an impact wrench to remove it. Noticed while changing struts. 2-7-02 – Transmission is worse. Now grinds going into reverse & going into 1st as well as grinding going into 3rd. Also tough to get into first gear completely. Brakes now make noise. Light grinding. 2-10-02 – Hard to shift into reverse. Have to press & release clutch several times before it goes completely into gear. Same with first.

i know i'm not talking about a honda here, but on my old scoob i had the same problem. everythink happened because of a missadjusted clutch, and it started first with the reverse, then first ,second and finally third before slipping occured, then i had to replace the clutch, then i still had the problem untill i took it to a scoob dealer to adjust it and it was fine for another 20k miles. after that ? i don't know. i got rid of the car.

why don't you go to another honda dealer with the tranny? I think any other honda dealer will be able to honor the certified warranty that heidi (or whatever the deler's name is) offered to you.

I did initially. But they never found an issue. They weren't real enthusiastic about working on my car since it was bought somewhere else. Quote:

Well I called the dealership and spoke to the manager. Here's the jist of it.....
He basically doesn't believe me. Why do I say that? He wants me to come up to the dealership so he can ride with me and see the problems. My response was "You know its not going to mess up with you in the car". He also said my reverse gear will grind sometimes because it doesn't have a synchro. Ok... Makes sense. Mine grinds alot though. First gear also grinds and third is still grinding occassionally. I don't know what will come of my trip there. Probably nothing. I guess we'll see...
