transmission
ok Im about to buy this manual transmission hes says its off a y8 which is what I need to do my conversion, now my question is are there any numbers on the tranny to tell if it is in fact a y8 tranny, and is there a difference between the y7 and y8 manual transmissions???
also is there a diffence between an auto and manual starter this conversion is going to take place in the summer with 2 civics a 98 and 00, so I will be asking many more questions thanks |

y7 and y8 trannies are different.
If my hood wasnt completely iced shut, Id go out and tell you the numbers to ID it. Auto and Manual starters are different. |

I know the gearing is a little different from the y7 y8...but a d series is a d series is a d series..they all fit..no matter what.

It will bolt. I've swapped a Y7 tranny to a Y8 motor before and vice versa..... a proven fact is my current mini-me= Y8 tranny to a Y7 block. The gearing is the only difference.

The only difference pat is when you are dealing with cable to hydro.........BUT....I THINK that it'll work with any D block still.
