transmission

ok Im about to buy this manual transmission hes says its off a y8 which is what I need to do my conversion, now my question is are there any numbers on the tranny to tell if it is in fact a y8 tranny, and is there a difference between the y7 and y8 manual transmissions???
also is there a diffence between an auto and manual starter

this conversion is going to take place in the summer with 2 civics a 98 and 00, so I will be asking many more questions thanks

y7 and y8 trannies are different.
If my hood wasnt completely iced shut, Id go out and tell you the numbers to ID it.

Auto and Manual starters are different.

Well, they are different part #s (not that that matters all that much) and the majority of those that Ive seen on this topic say they are different.

It will bolt. I've swapped a Y7 tranny to a Y8 motor before and vice versa..... a proven fact is my current mini-me= Y8 tranny to a Y7 block. The gearing is the only difference.

The only difference pat is when you are dealing with cable to hydro.........BUT....I THINK that it'll work with any D block still.
