How do start a business.. Hondaman??
My wife was thinking of starting a little internet business making handmade paper. She was making some for some invitations, and a neighbor of ours asked is she would make 300 sheets for $600. A friend of that neighbors then asked for her to make her 500 sheets. So we thought why not make a little site and make extra $ on the side?
I know a couple of you have at home businesses, so what would it take to make a little website, and sell this stuff? How would we do anything like credit card orders etc? We are busy busy, and would like to make this a small little business, but if we can make an extra $1000 a month why not? It only took the weeksend to make 300 sheets too. About 8 hours of labor for $600. |

well first of all you need to incorporate. that way if something goes wrong they will hunt your business not you. also you need a webspace, i dunno about the traffic and what excatly you are gonna do, but you can chose a nice hosting package from www.freeservers.com from $2 a month. for payements i use paypal. it's secure and it has the best terms i've ever seen. to incorporate try www.bizfillings.com . it was like $570 for ohio but they move very fast. the only drawback is the IRS which takes it's sweet ass time

Incorporating isnt always the answer.. It depends very much on the form of business, and whats involved..
You might want to read up a little on the matter.. If you'll be indebted, then maybe a corporation is what you need.. But it might not be the case, since you'll be operating on a very small scale.. Good luck!

Corporations are a hastle, especially if she's just selling a couple note-cards or whatever.

The BEST credit card transactions are offered by stores.yahoo.com, they will deposit the money directly into a US account with a minimal fee and they take care of all the back end work. All the transactions are secure, not to mention once you are a "yahoo store" people who search yahoo.com to buy things will have you come up as a listing.
*I should mention that you will have your own domain www.*****.com or whatever and it will appear to be "non yahoo" but yahoo does all the transactions. For an example of what I am talking about head to www.allmyhome.com (currently a business i work for). Currently working for two e-businesses the one running off yahoo stores has required less advertising to get us business and works out to be the easiest to fill the orders. As everything on yahoo's side is done online, click and print and then ship the order. As for shipping, go with UPS. They might be a bit more expensive but trust me if you NEVER want to deal with a lost or stolen package deal with them. All the rest out there beat your package up and I highly doubt you want people senting you papers back that are all messed up. If you are making small margins you have to do it once, and do it right. Dont waste your time with any half @ss setups and go big or go home. Also if you run a "data base" website there is a new search engine call foogle that you should resister to increase business. If you want more details, pm me. Rob |
