Del Sol mods/questions

Hey girls...

I have owned my 94' del Sol for almost 4 months now and i figure it's about time to start putting some money into it.

I haven't really done anything to it besides a K&N intake filter. I just got a new job and money is not really an issue, but the next thing I was thinking of was a 2" drop in the front and a 1.5" drop in the back.

My boyfriend suggested instead of buying just springs and then having to replace the shocks in a year, to buy "true" coilovers, which are springs mounted directly onto the shocks. I think they are called in-line coilovers, i'm not sure. He said this would be as close to an ideal suspension as you could get.

Any ideas/suggestions/comments about this? I am not an expert in cars, but i do know my fair share.. i haven't really had any experience with this type of suspension, most of the people i know just bought springs and tho that worked, i am wondering if this might be better.

Thx girls!

hi, welcome to Hondastyle.

yeah i think you want to get shocks with your new springs especially if u want to get sport springs. Also coilovers are nice but make sure you get a true coilovers setup like your bf said

Hey guys thx for all the replies

Jason, it sounds like you have tried both coilovers and springs/shocks, could you please tell me how both have worked for you (specifics) and did you use the true coilovers or just adjustable springs?

Also, if you have AIM, Jason we could talk there my s/n is DelSolStylin

My friends have coilovers, i have springs..

My springs were 250, and my struts were 500.. thats 800 bucks..

and GOOD coil overs will run 1200

and youll get better RIDE from the springs.. but it wont turn as good as coilovers... coil overs are stiff as HELL

I think youd be happy with struts/springs.. just because it will feel better when your driving.

I have AIM at home, but im at work

name is TonitrusEN i get off work at 4:30, if you wanna talk just drop me a line.... also, you might want to go to VTR here in mukilteo and see what Wayne has to say, he might have a better suggestion than i hes my guru.. hehe

Bye

Jason

IN MY EXSPERIENCE YOU ARE DEFINETLLY BETTER OFF WITH SPRINGS IN STEAD OF COIL OVERS....LIKE JASON SAID COIL OVERS ARE STIFF AS HELL AN NOT TO MENTION THE PAIN IN THE ASS THEY ARE WHEN IT COMES TO ADJUSTING THEM......i RIDE ON H&R SPRINGS WITH A 3 INCH DROP ALL THE WAY AROUND AND TOKICO 5 WAY ADJUSTABLE GAS SHOCKS FOR AROUND 105.00 EACH AN MY SPRINGS COST 75.00 USED FROM A FREIND .... I DID SOME RESEARCH ON YOUR CAR AN THE STUFF I WOULD RECOMEND WOULD BE SPRINT SPRINGS W/ 2.5 IN DROP ALL THE WAY AROUND AND TOKICO ILLUMINA 5 WAY EXTERNALLY ADJUSTABLE SHOCKS......THE TOTAL FOR THIS WOULD BE $585.62 PLUS SHIPPING ....AND THAT MY FREIND IS MY TWO CENTS ON THE SUBJECT.....IF YOU NEED TO KNOW WERE TO ORDER FROM JUST CONTACT ME AND I WILL BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO SET YOU UP WITH A FEW PEOPLE I DEAL WITH....
GOOD LUCK...
TY
