For us DXers that don't have an RPM meter.
I've seen this meters mounted on the side that measure RPMs. DX rides don't have the RPM meters on the on-board dash, so my question is or are.....
1)Is it difficult to get one of those things installed? 2)Where would I buy one of those at? 3)How do I install it? Guys! I know I am being a pest but this is the best damn forum I've been in. Keep on racing! |

errrr.. i have a dx to.. what i did was i went to the junk yard and bought a cluster from an EX or LX.. (paid like 40$)
and swapped only the RPM and the Gas/Temp guages with mine. they all work.. the reason you need both guages is because the original dx one has gas on one side and temp on the other.. the EX/LX ones are together in the same gauge |

Cool! Do I need any special wiring to get the RPM meter to work?

Just FYI, its called a tachometer.
You should just be able to get the new cluster and it should come with the necessary wiring I believe.

nah.. there is no wiring.
when you buy the cluster remove the front glass part with the plastic front to expose the guages.. behind the cluster, each guage is held in by 3 silver screws.. take those out and the gague comes out. take those gauges and swap them with yours.. everything will work when you put your cluster back in. theres no extra stuff needed since honda makes all cars the same. just option parts removed.. (ie. DX has missing clock, but if you buy the EX Clock there is a plug for it behind the cluster) (same thing with AC, Power Windows, Power locks, Cruise Control, etc. ) if you can buy all the missing parts in the junk yard.. everything will work |

It's a drect swap out and hook right up..You remove the DX cluster ad hook up the EX/LX one...
I just got a Autometer 10,000 RPM tach w/ external shift light....I just didn't want to get a EX/LX cluster. You can find them for a decent price on www.thepartstrader.com or on www.ebay.com but they are a ltitle mroe expensive on there...Try a local junk yard for good prices normally if nothign else. Hope this might help additionally... |

Dumb question, but answering it may help more than just me...
When you refer to the guage clusters, are you talking about the entire unit (everything behind and including the clear plastic), just the individual round guages, or something similar to the indiglo guage kits available aftermarket?! I'm in the same position and I would like to set myself up with something that appears to be OEM, no obtrusive external tachometers for me. Thanks all. |

When people refer to the cluster it's the entire guage cluster. All the guages in it the speedo,gas/temp, tach etc..
When you take out the cluster it's a nice size piece of plastic w/ the hook ups for the guages and the guages themselves.. Hope this might help additionally... |

So it's not the box of everything, you only need the guages and the template that holds them in place that you can plug into your cars dash...
