driving test coming up...need sum help
hi,
I got myself a nice 1990 Integra GS and I cannot wait to get my license so I can drive it without my dad next to me yelling at me the second I hit 26mph. I wanted to see if people have any tips for the driving test or for driving in general...things to look out for, things to emphasize...anything that you think could help. |

ew, dont go 5 under, keep the limit. and they might test this by making u go down a hill, remember to ride the brakes if necessary.. Always look in the streets that u pass.. just in case a car might "hit" you.. and always look left and right when going thru an intersection.. even if ur light is green (dont like.. swing ur head, but glance left and right.) and when using your mirrors, turn your head, not just your eyes.

cool, thanx for the tips, hopefully I can round up a bunch more tips from here to help me out on my test.
i got a question: what is the big mystery about backing up straight? lol, i cannot do it right, i always end up going toward one side. especially when I am looking over my shoulder, one of my friends said its in the way you hold the wheel, but couldnt explain it any further... how do you guys back up in a straight line? (everyone tells me that it is just practice and it will become natural) thanx again for ur tips so far and I hope i can get many more |

put your hand at the top of the wheel b4 you look back. then if you need to adjust direction to the right move your hand to the right-if you need to go left move your hand left. Make your inputs small at first then larger if needed, remember to breathe and stay calm. You'll do fine.

If you live in Cali (from what I hear) they will NOT make you do the "3-point" turn as mentioned in the DMV book. I know they didnt make me do it...

Just dont sweat it
1) put on seatbelt 2) know how to put lights on and brights 3)know how to turn on wipers 4) make sure you drive as smooth as possible 5) dont run a stop sign 6) keep both hands on the wheel 7) keep radio off 8) if the tester dosent put on thier seatbelt tell them to 9) stay calm dude you'll be fine so i just wouldent worry about it the only instant fails that you can have are numbers 1,5,6 other than that you can make a lot of mistakes and still pass. At leasts thats how it is here |

ha 5mph under the limit.. just drive with the flow of traffic and drive by the book.
When i took the test i remember him bitching at me for speeding, but he didnt' fail me because I was speeding for a reason. which at this time i've forgotten why it was.... |

Well someone already mentioned the look left right then left again, or right again even on a green. Just constantly check your mirrors for no reason.
It also helps if you ask them "Do you want the AC on or anything?" For my test I had this filipino lady, older cute if I were her age. We talked to entire test, I got her to talk about her life, her kids, her husband, where she use to live, whats the differences, what her kids do in school, their names. After the test we talked in the car for like 20 minutes. Needless to say I passed haha. If your nervous then talk, ackward silence will kill you. |

my test was in a parking lot. i had to make a quick controlled stop, 3-point turn(which i would learn to do anyways, they are simple) strait in parking, and drive around the back of the complex(20mph) i got a perfect on it, because it was a joke. just do what is right, remeber to check your mirrors, seatbelt, adjust your seat, etc. they notice those things. oh and for backing up strait, i use my mirrors. i look out the back, then use the side mirror to watch a line or something and keep myself parellel to that. its not difficult

have you already taken behind the wheel in school? cause I think if you get an A or a B in both the class and on the wheel, then you are exempt from the DMV test.
All I can suggest to you is practice. Go driving with your mom or dad, and ask questions. There are some quirks about some intersections that they dont teach you in a book. oh yeah, and get used to power brakes. |

i think i had like a C- because i never did those 8 paged worksheets...but the final test(that i wasn't prepared for) saved me from passing the class. 21 out of 25... 4 is the max you can miss...and i hit the max. ahaha, i was so happy. 90% of the class had to come back the next saturday to retake it...but with 50 questions instead of 25. |

just stay calm... half the time people fail it's because of nerves...
Forgetting to release/set the parking brake... not buckling your seatbelt... not looking both ways... not stopping fully... driving too SLOW. Just smoke some weed right before the test... that aughta keep ya real calm.
