Quality of Motegi?

Hi,
Im looking at getting a set of Motegi MR-8's and I am just wondering if anyone knows if Motegi is a good brand. I've just started looking at wheels and I haven't heard much about Motegi.
Any help is appreciated.

Welcome to HS.

They are good wheels for the money. Accord Man can tell you more about them... I think that's what he is running.

YUP..

They are exactley the same quality as Konig.. And they both use Identical procedures with the same quality controle..

Plus I think Motegi is a subsidary of Konig.... But I'm not sure about that though..

Its good stuff..

That's good to hear. I was looking into getting the MR-7's myself. Probably in gun metal...

Ive got Motegi MR7 GunnMetals... very nice rims- very strong and good-looking... I would definately suggest getting your calipers painted some color if you get MR7s tho... they leave a lot of space between the rotor and wheel which, if unpainted, allows people to see nasty rusted calipers and rotors... just a thought... I love my MR7s... great- whole set cost me about 500bucks plus mount and balance tires... keep us posted

Just to let you all know (and I know none of you will want to hear this), Motegi is a division of American Racing . I found this out from Tire Discounters. It was pretty obvious when he said "Let me call American Racing to see if they are in stock".

Just though I'd let you all know. BTW, I still ordered the MR-7's anyhow

Wow Civic_Addict, I had no clue they were part of AR. That's ok though, they look much better than the AR wheels.

ok, I more info..

All 2002 Motegis wheels are built in Korea.

American Racing, is now the official American distributor for Motegis..

AR also distrubutes another brand.. I think it was Elorion or something like that..

Once again, Motegi quality is identical to Konigs..

Cool. Where'd you dig that up at? Just curious. I actually feel relieved that AR doesn't make them. Nothing personal against AR, but they seem to lack quality.

It was kind of a project.. We did ours on different wheel manufacturers..

I have a shitload of data on Motegi, Konig, Momo, ADR, VOLK (was very very hard to get any info..) & TSW.

I was supposed to keep all the inof I got a secret, but you kinda blew that..

Yeah, I saw some white (MR7s? the ones JP has) on a red civic I parked next to today, and they looked super clean.
