Okay, do you see the difference in material on my block. My cylinders are aftermarket by way of AEBS. The shiny part is the sleeves. The stock sleeves looks about similar but the material is different and mine is also strong on the top.... not as open as the stock. The sleeves are pressed into the block. Go to the Golden Eagle website and you'll see that their sleeves are different than mine. The most common aftermarket sleeves for Hondas are:
-AEBS -Darton -Golden Eagle -Benson AEBS and Darton are almost similar. Golden Eagle sleeves looks different as well. Benson is an "open deck" style like the stock but again, stronger material. DART blocks are "closed deck". Open and Close deck refers to the coolant passages which surrounds the sleeves. Let me know if you want more pictures. I can probably look it up online...... |

the block im buying was sleeved by darton. is it possible to run a open deck head on a closed deck block?

Darton is not a closed deck block. DART is. Darton and AEBS are about the same. It appears like it is closed but that is just that area for strengthening purposes. Right below the top is open for coolant passages.
