HEEEEELp!!
do i hook up my stereo subs correctly? I have 2 Alpine Type R 12" DVC subs. They are 4+4ohm and i am running a 2 channel phenoix gold amplifier.
The BOTTOM box is the OLD box i had and it pounded like a mother focker. The new box, shown above, is NOT ported and it is alot smaller and i am trying to figure out the correct way to wire the subs. Right now i have it hooked up exactly like the diagram shown beside the top subbox from alpine's website (www.alpine.com). I bridged the outpout and wired it up according to alpine. But for some reason, i cannot seem to get very much bass out of it this way. I played around with my xover freq and gain etc but nothing helped the matter.. ANY IDEAS?!?! |

so the only thing that has changed is the box?
the bottom box is for SPL so you feel alot of bass, whereas the top box is made for SQ, i would also say to turn the box away from you, so that way the bass will bounce off of the back of the car and will sound better

it is probably cause the volume of the new box is smaller because of the seperate chambers, was the older box bigger by chance?
bass is the air you feel being pushed by the cone. if the volume behind the cones isn't big enough for the cone, it wont push as much.

yeah, if anything make a custom fibreglass box, that way you can practice with fibreglass, and mold it into the trunk.
EDIT: the trunk in the lude is a litle bit bigger than that of of the accord so i should see no problem

personally i'd go down to 1 sub. a preludes trunk is too small for a pre-fab 2 sub box, at least to have the airspace. im running one 10' in a perfect sized box and it hits better than i expected.
