Money Situations
Now that I have just been getting into import cars, and modifying them and such, I have grown accustome to the money situation I am in. I get a little thrown off when I see a kid my age driving the same model car, only souped up to hell. I wanna know where all that money comes from. I have a job and all, but big paying jobs around here dont hire till your 18. What do you guys do for money? I mean some cars with $18,000 dollars invested or more, and some kids are no older then 17 and doing that? I hate not being rich man. lol. So again my question is what do you guys do for money? Besides the occasional nickle bag sale. (dont look at me that way I know someone on hondastyle does.)

they probly have rich ass parents, then they went and bought some stuff as soon as they could find it. So they probly didnt get the best stuff and you will probly end up better than them in life anywhoo... so dont fret. If noone had money probs then we would all have ferraris or some other italian car.

well... i have 100% paid for my car. i worked at resturants, i worked my ass off, got promoted countless times, i was working as a chef among other rather responsable jobs for a 17 year old. you have to know how resturants work. you can do the bair minimum and make a decent 7-8 an hour, or bust your ass, figuer out what waiters tip their bussers more, who likes to have the food brought out, who dosnt, you learn how waiters work tables and how quickly to get their appitizers ready... then i waited tables. you make tons of small talk with the table(if they seem like they want to) recommend food for them, tell them what wines go with what food well, tell them how stuff tastes, bring them samples... bend over backwards for them... they scratch your back

you have to want it bad enough. any kid can get a good enough job and work enough hours to pay for a new car if they want to. also did you buy yours in cash? or take out a loan? im guessing it was a small one if you did. alot of kids get themselves in debt young, but will work their asses off to pay for the car.

dont worry, kids who are given cars and money never appreciate it as much as you do. theres no(or as much) hard earned money into their car. hopefully since you appreciate your car more, you will build a nicer one. rich kids just seem to get cheap wheels a ugly kit and a few bolt ons and think they have a sweet car.

My car was bought 3 years ago, my brother drove it before me. So its paid off, but my insurance is expensive even though I have no points on my license. And I wanna take out a loan, sell my car, and buy this project Si for 25,000 (which is a good deal considering what's in it/on it) and then pay it off as I go. but hey dreams are dreams eh? but hopefully i can build my car from what i have. and your right about kids appreciating their cars. I love my car like its my best friend, and rich kids take theirs for granted. (like you said) |

Yeah- I agree that building it is the fun part, and since basically everyone feels that way, modified cars go for so much less than what they have invested in them...

A lot of it depends on the area you work as to how much youll make. Cost of living in some places is considerably more then it is in others. Working at a McDonalds around here will get you minimum wage while working in the big city can get you 8 to 9 dollars and hour.
As for some of these other people, they work thier butts off, or the have rich parents. Just do what you can do. Dont try to compete against other people, it can only take the fun out if you get to serious about it. Sport compacts should be a fun hobby. Just make sure you dont get in to far over your head spending money that you dont have, ie Credit cards, etc. Because in reality its not really worth it. It may seem like your making no progress sometimes, just keep working at it. Do a little here and a little there, but remember to enjoy it the whole way. Because if you dont. Your just throwing your money away.

well, I wish i had a good job, i only make 210 a week so it dosen't leave much room for me to do anything, so personal loans from family and credit cards have kept my beast on the road. I am 20 and I definitally wish I had a better paying job since I am still at home and don't plan on leaving for a while....being in college and all.

the feeling of not making progress happens to me. ill be looking at stuff for my car and its like; damn! its been 2 months since i got anything for it! being broke sucks. and where i live theres these 2 neighborhoods southwest ranches and imagination farms. the cars that the kids drive that live in there are nice! audis, vettes, supras, bmws. not to mention there houses are huge! my friend sasha lives in imagination farms, her house is a mansion. makes me stay in school and work hard for good grades so i can get a big paying job |

Yup, that's my plan. I'm not even working right now, but I have some money saved up. School takes up almost all of my time, but in a couple of years I'll be out and ready to make some good money!

well i mke good money, depending on the customers (cause i work for tips), and most of my money go towards the bills that i have. i'm left with a 3500 hospital bill from 2 months back, and hopefully the business i just started will bring some money so i can pay the bills and help my parents a bit. also my car is not that great. it's a stock looking rusted accord, but it's lowered. i'll take care oof the rust for free thou cause cars are my hobby and it's a pleasure working on them

i paid like 4k for my car in cash, from one of the people that worked for my dad. Its still my first car and im only 16 so it gets me where i need to go and it suprises some people at how fast it will actually go. But it isnt that fast, will never be that fast since im just gonna get a job and in a few years buy an older Integra or something like that, so who knows.
