how do u girls pay for your mods?
pretty often i hear guys talking about how they love to mod their girls car. while this is a sweet thought, i'd never let my man do that. i pay for everything that's on my car now as well as everything i plan to do to it. it sucks when i see some girl with a decent car knowing that they don't even have a clue what's on it, they just kinda let their man do what they want to it. i work pretty hard to make my money and put it into my car, and was wondering if this is what u girls do too??

Hondagirl I completely agree with you. Unfortunately right now all of my hard earned $$ goes to my university and my car payments. I'm going to be getting a pt job over the summer to save up for some mods on my car though. You can tell none of my $$ now goes to my car other than the payments cuz I don't have any mods. Nor do I have a bf to pay for them. If I did have a bf that insisted on buying me mods...I would be telling him what I want done and in what order and that sorta thing. I'd know exactly what is on my car and why I wanted it there.

I pay for everything and install it myself.
The only time my b/f figure pays for anything, is if it's a birthday present or something like that. Usually we'll both work on our cars together too. I'll help him with his teg and he'll help me with my civic. (Helping means passing me the tools, not doing it for me) |

I bust my ass with 2 jobs and my car is no where near I'd like it to be. My belief is you want something, you work for it. I'll admit it's awesome if someone close to you knows how badly you want something and they make it happen for ya. But overall I work for what I want. And I am 112% for the boyfriend/girlfriend modding team. I love that!

LOL, girls are soo damn funny. Id give anything to not have to pay for my mods. THEY COST A LOT. More money for me to do something else. LOL, only a girl would take a good thing and screw it up.

i agree with lovebuzz as far as accepting presents. if someone wants to buy me somethng for my birthday, by all means, i'm gonna be grateful. i guess i was referring more along the lines of those girls who don't do anything. it's more like the guy takes over and buys everything for the girl's car. it just kinda pointless cause it's not like the girl worked remotely hard for it.
DsBlu01CivEX: i know what u mean, mods are so expensive! it's hard to save up for what u want, i guess that's why it does bother me when someone (not even just a girl) gets everything for free and doesn't work for it. there's always a sense of pride when u know you've done everything for yourself. |

well my bf and I have a partnership, all our money is invested together, so ther is no his money or my money, so everything is pretty even and if I do anything to my car it is me who does it, and if it is something I cant do by myself I am helping as much as I can.

We aren't screwin anything up....We just like to work for what we get and be involved with our cars. Shit...if someone asked what we have done to our cars...it would blow a guys brain if we rattled off a whole lists of mods and popped open the hood and said "Yah I did that myself". And that is what we are after. We dont wanna look like a bunch of dumba$$es and turn to our guy and be like "Honey what is that shiny thing you put on my car??? and what does it do again??" Yah...i'd rather just say that I don't have anything done to my car than to look/sound like that

Well, hell. If my dad was like heres 10,000$, go fix up your car. ID SURE AS HELL TAKE IT. Id do all the work myself but I wouldnt turn down him paying for the parts. I just think its funny that a girl would think someone else paying for a couple parts is a bad thing. Heres an example of a bad thing. Someone who doesnt work at all, doesnt do anything at all but still has a bad ass hooked up car. Thats pathetic.

I think the other girls and myself were referring mostly to if a boyfriend figure took your car, and gave it back to up hooked up. I mean yeah it would be cool, but its something we would wanna be in on. We are basically saying we dont approve of the girls driving around who only know the model of their car, the total b*tches who can't even pump their own gas or change their oil, A flat tire? "Let me call my boyfriend to fix that for me!!"
They are our cars, an extension of ourselves, we wanna do what we please to it, put in our money, time, sweat, blood and whatever else .. But hell if my father handed my $10G I'd take it.. put maybe about 8 into the car and spend the other 2 on other stuff. |

Oh man.....my dream is to have a girlfriend who I can tinker around with cars with! That would be great, and it would definitely be a way for two people to be closer together.
As long as she's into it, I wouldn't try to get her into it if she's not too interested.....I wouldn't want her doing that to me with one of her hobbies. As far as people paying to fix up my ride: my friend bought me some spiffy looking bulbs for my tail lights and my mom payed for my cam gear install and dyno tuning....that's it. I would love it if someone came along and handed me money, but I'd still try and find some way to pay it off, whether it be just running errands for that person or whatever. For the ladies: props to you for working on your car by yourself...I really respect that, especially since I'm not too mechanically minded and haven't even really done much personal wrenching with my car. I'd like to learn, but I don't really know too many people who do stuff on their own as far as cars go......but give me a computer and I'm good to go! |

Oh yah I'd totally take the $$ and put a certain amount into mods and then pocket the rest or what not. And if I had a bf who was into modding his car...hell yah I'd buy him stuff for it for holidays/bdays and what not. And if I had extra $$ lyin around and he did something extra special for me...I'd buy him somethin nice for his car...or just for the hell of it if I had the $$ lyin around. But lets see...I don't have the $$ lyin around nor do I have the bf to spoil with car mods. and FMR...you really have a way with words and explain things on here. I'm quite impressed! I need to take notes

If I had a boyfriend who offered to pay for mods for my car, I'd feel guilty, but if he insisted, I'd allow him to. Now for holidays and such, that's a little different, then I'd definitely take it. In return I'd do the same for him. I think a good relationship consists of a little give and take. Although, it makes me feel good to give someone a present just for the heck of it and no reason at all, I don't mind. But for now, since I don't have a bf, I'll go in debt trying to pay for my mods. For some reason I have this attitude that I want it now or never and I don't have the patience to save up for it. Isn't that pathetic?

A girl can never have enough shoes or clothes...NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE SAYS!!!!! And then a girl with money could also=shoes/clothes AND cars. That'll be once I get "a real job". What a girl spends the most $$ depends on her likes and dislikes. Of course a girl who isn't into cars will only buy shoes and clothes.

Ok, here's where I'll step in... I hope you're not being serious about that. Maybe that's how the girls you meet are, but it's pretty sad if that's your mentality. Personally, I don't like shopping, and I don't like shoes. |

I used to do my fair share of shopping...and my room proves that....But right now in my life I'd sooooo much rather put money towards my car.
And I will never understand boys and their porn...no matter what medium it be in (mags, movies, internet). And I'm not even gonna ask for any of you guys to explain it. I'll never get it no matter how much you explain.

i do lots of promotion for a shop in AZ called superior racing development.. which helps me get a discount on parts.. but not really.
i pay for them myself.. last time i had someone buy something for my car.. my X put on a ricey ass body kit, ugly fog lights, and a dash kit i cant get off.. never again will i let my car be in anyone elses hands... except my mechanic/best friend who helps me install and fix stuff on my car.. |
