Boosting my ride

well guys im going to buy a doner car to fix up mine. but at the same time while i got the motor out im going to build the internals up to hold 15LBS of boost.

my question is what internals would you recommend?

for what kit am i buying: the Greddy Turbo kit for a 97-01. the thing is i have to buy a Hondata or a 97-01 ECU for the turbo to run properally. i will also have to custom fit the down pipe.

but i also may buy a 98+motor...H22a4. so i wont need to deal with the ecu.

HONDATA!!! don't settle for other shit. the Hondata will do the best and be the most reliable. Get It. Even if your getting that 98+ motor get the Hondata.

Well, it just really depends on what you want to do man... i say stay away from that tiny ass GReddy turbo and get something bigger. A compression of 9.5:1 to 10:1 is great on the streets, as long as the rods are stronger. A flat top piston proved to be better choices with all my friends, but some people may disagree. I'm excited for you man!

thanks.. with working 2 jobs im making enough cash to get more things done at once! i was thinking of buying the OverBoost kit. Stage 2 for a H22a1. i heard that the H22a4 have some really ghey perks to them. so ill stay away from them. the extra 5 hp isnt worth a dime to me.

i have also chosin the hondata system. im just not sure were to get mine at. i also need to get gauges. cheap places??

fulle race = bad ass!

if you want 15 psi, Greddy turbo will be maxed out so i would stay away from that. i'd go with a t3/t4 or and sc34 turbo. compression id go with no more than 9.5:1 and no less than 8:1. As far as brands:

Pistons - CP or JE
Rods - Eagle
ARP head studs and rod bolts

Then there is little things to - micropolish crank, balance rotating assembly, balance piston/rods, cylinder wall honing, port and polish, etc. the list goes on.

hondata = A++++++

what car is the motor going in? im not a big fan of the H22. its not worth the trouble to get it to fit in an EG/EK chassis.

Gauges - Autometer, Greddy, HKS, Blitz, Defi. Boost necessary! any other ones are personal preference.
for 15 lbs, piston and rods should be fine as far as replacement. but if your going do it do it right. take your time and be ready to spend the cash .

i take it your still talking about the h22 motor since its going in your prelude. as far as cams, ive heard from many people that the stock cams are the best for turbo applications.

I would go bigger tho. That 2.2 will be great on spooling up an SC61 or 60-1. i already want to upgrade my turbo to one of those.... ha ha

True... they dont make a kit for H-series yet. But they do have the manifold.....
