Ok, when I download this, does it just sit and stop this crap, or do I have to open it, or click on it, or what?

you're going to have to run the program for it to fix this "pop up" problem.

In simple terms, click twice on the file after downloading it

Dude, she has AOL, and not AIM. That could work, but I doubt it.
GirlRacer, I would imagine since you have AOL, your computer is littered with Adware (the pop-up advertisements) and Spyware.
Try downloading AdAware at http://download.com.com/3000-2144-10...ml?tag=lst-0-1 . After you download it, you'll have to install it. Then, open the program. You'll want to use the "Scan Now" option. It will take about 5 minutes, then make a little sound effect. You'll want to check all the boxxes, and click on finish (or whatever) to get rid of those cookie and program...
If that doesn't clear it up, try pouring water on your computer (the water drowns out pop-up ads, that can't swim too well).... just kidding.
Let me know if this helps at all.

Agreed. Ditch AOL. Everything about AOL can be found on the internet, they just make it pretty and easy to find.
