h22 but it's a real pain in the rear just to fit there. if u want your car to be driveable on the street too go with a b18

I heard the h22 is a easy swap for the hb this site:

It may fit, but remember that the h22 is a lot heavier than the b18. Your hatchie will be a LOT harder to steer. So it is great for drag racing, but really impractical for street driving. |

It says its a moderate swap. How impractical is impractical? I would be driving granny/normal style on the road, I wouldn't need anything that sticks to the road taking a 90 degree sharp turn at 100 mph.
I'd want as much straight line power as possible. smokencivic, I plan to do an engine swap on a 6G civic, keep in touch, and we can help each other out

I don't know anyone who had done it, so I can't tell you for sure how bad the handling will be. But several people have mentioned this on other sites, and the reaction there is the same. BAAAAAD handling. |

yeah its bad handling if you just swap in an H22A and leave it with stock suspension components. thats just plain idiotic.
stiffer spring rates and sport tuned shocks/coilovers are a good idea and add some suspension beef up components like a thick rear sway-bar - you can easily have VERY good handling. id rather have the B18C5 though. the H22A isnt the greatest just because it has a lot more tq. |

don't go h22, too expensive, too deadly. You will not be able to do anything in terms of turning. Your turning response will drop, just trying to dodge something will be difficult.

the h22 will be a little bit cheaper than the b18c5. But when if you do the h22, you will need to buy new motor mounts ($600), Have custom axels made because all the torque and hp of the h22 will snap the ones you have now. You will lose powersterring and your A/C, if you throw extra money in then you can keep one or the other. the h22 is considerbly heavier, so you will need to upgrade you suspension to have any kind of decent handling, and trying to get rid of the understeer.
I was thinking about the same swap myself. And i will be doing the b18c swap, because i will be driving the car all the time on the road. I decided to just do a b18 and then later use forced induction. |
