because i am in the industry, and there is no way that raising the minimum wage one dollar, will not cause an unemployment of that much, if anything, it will cause more people to go in to work, and, if that happens that means there will be more profitt. more on this later in the midle of lecture....

I didn't read through that article. But if you think raising the minimum wage a $1 isn't that much, your wrong.

If you work at a factory where there are 300 employees and they have to raise everyone’s wage $1, that’s an extra $40 a week per person, 12,000 a week for the entire plant and 624,000 a year.
If I were the plant manager and they did that, i would be looking for ways to cut cost, real quick (cut jobs, etc.)

Well...it is crap, and it's not crap. It's crap because we've kept it so low for so long that people are whining about an increase of even $1. It's also crap because companies who've become addicted to paying their workers shit will be the first to start laying people off in search of their old profits. It's not crap because, as Dingo pointed out, after time it adds up. However I for one would think that faced with such a "problem" business will do what they've always done...raise prices. To me it just seems like a bunch of greedy bastards crying about how their profits will go down when they all along plan to hike prices if it passes.

I think its crap becuase theyre whinning about it.
"Oh no, I have to pay people more money!" shut up and do it.
But at the same time, they WILL raise prices to counter-act the raise and that will screw everyone at least $1 more.
So....why bother if theyre just going to equal it all out?

Precisely. You know they're not just gonna eat that extra cost. They'll bend us over with it.

Doesn't it all sort of just add up anyway, though? Cost of living will go up once minimum wage is raised. The value of a dollar goes down.

By the way, what's the minimum in Cali? Like 6.75?
