Multiple issues...
This is for a 1993 Civic VX (1.5L, VTEC-E).
Anyhow, the first issue is that I can't get one of the fuel filter fittings off. See pics below. Any ideas? its not liek I can torch it or cut it. Gas tends to blow up. Part 2. What can cause a miss to occur? I've replaced the plugs, plug wires, dist. cap & rotor. Part 3. Oil consumption. I'm thinking bad rings or pistons. Anything else? I have a new head sitting in my garage for this but I wanted to test the compression first. Can't do that because the fuel fitting leaks like crazy.

you need some brake line wrenches. the ones with 5 sides, not 3 like the regular ones. when i changed mine i had to wrestle it a bit. ass for miss is the ignition timing set correctly ? a dirty tb will cause that miss too.

I had that problem, and it was timing. But I also changed the fuel fitler beofre I knew that. its funny, we think alike. I used a socket and got a real big pipe as a breaker bar. I had to have my dad help pull on it with me, and then it loosed. brute force it. yours looks kinda like mine, except for that weird black block on top. get someone to help wrench it off.
I doubt the filter will fix all your probelms, but as long as your there you might as well change it. as everyone probably knows by know, my problem was a loose screw on the rotor. You may want to check and make sure its not loose or missing. after that, shine a timing light on your belt and check that. my timing was one tooth off, and caused backfiring. |

honda's d-series engines are really bad about burning oil. mine was burning about a quart every 150 miles on the highway. i took the whole engine apart, replaced the rings, deglazed the cylinders, and had the head completely rebuilt (long story on the head. if i hadn't gotten it done free, i would have just swapped for a b-series) and it hasn't burned a drop since then. between buying tools, gaskets and rings, i spent about $250. there's a trick that i think would have fixed my oil problem that costs less than $10, if only i'd know about it before i took my engine apart. go to http://crx.honda-perf.org/faq/data/5.html to see the procedure.
