Done with SOHC turbo....
I'm just fucking sick of this SOHC turbo bullshit now.
For those of you who dont know, my stock boosted Y8 finally gave up. Out of desperation to get my daily driver back up, I was able to scavenge a Y7 block from a friend.... for free. I was gonna pair this with my Y8 head (mini-me style). But the whole valve train got fucked since the chunk that came out of my Y8 piston penetrated the #4 cylinder valves and bent a couple of them.... and God knows what else could be wrong with the head. Diggin through my garage, I found an old Z6 head I had laying around. I cleaned it all up, relapped the valves and bought a VTEC solenoid for it. As I was going through the torque specs, one of the head bolts stripped off the block...it was the last bolt too. I also failed to realize that I will need an OBD1 distributor and a Z6 timing belt. I will give it one more chance to heli-coil the block... of course I will have to remove the head again to do this shit. If this fucker doesnt work, i will go ahead drop an all-motor B-series instead. I found a complete 95 GSR swap (tranny, mounts, axle, blah blah) for $1700 shipped. I also found an almost complete swap JDM B16A with LSD tranny for $1500. I'm gonna sell my SOHC turbo kit to my friend to come up with some cash for this shit. I'm just really fed up trying to get my boost SOHC back. I think an unmodified B swap will be a more reliable daily driver anyway.... |

Those are average deals... actually they are great deals for having an LSD already. An average GSR/Si Tranny is about $600.... no LSD

I can't seem to find it. Sooo, I'm looking for a b20 block with sleeves installed already. Don't have a preference on any other mods. I don't have much time to go get my block sleeved [9hour drive from my school] and if I go in state, they'll charge me 1600 to sleeve it. Anyway, I don't need pistons or anything, just an effin b20 sleeved! You seem to always have good prices on your end of the world, even with shipping it's cheaper than what it goes for in my area. Let me know.

I did... I just didnt quote you... sorry... but here's what's up. My buddy and I have been looking for one for a while now. We cant even find a bone stock one locally, let alone a sleeved one. There are tons of B18A/B, B18C1, and B16A all over here, but very rare to see a B20. I actually havent seen one at all... Since we dropped the B20 idea, if I ever come across one, you are definietly first in line..... |

Are you still planning to sell the kit to a friend? If not how much were you looking to get for it? Just curious.

Sivik, if you ever come up here, give me a list of what you want. I can get pretty much anything around here. I know a few ricers here who are known on the streets.
UPDATE: - I decided to do a 96' B20 swap instead. I bought a complete swap from a friend for $1500... 2 installment pay... ha ha. It's a complete swap. It has a GSR tranny, 185 psi compression all the way across, LS ECU, mounts, shift linkage, stock LS header, LS intake manifold, 00' B16 axles .... everything and it's already put together. I just have to cut and splice the alternator and dizzy wires. Pulling the D16 out tomorrow (Sunday) and swapping the B20 in. I have 3 prospective buyers on my D-turbo set-up already. One of them is pretty solid. I just need to quit bullshittin and pull the turbo kit apart for shipping.... |

I'm keeping the B20 bone stock, except of course the thermal exhaust that's already in my car. Since I dont have the stock intake, i'm gonna go pick a cheap short ram from autozone... lol. I will also fabricate a driver side torque mount. I need power steering and A/C as well. It wont be a "truly" daily driver without those.

D is out and B20 is in. Almost done. It's been a long day. I just have to rewire a couple of things like my injectors. I have to remove the resistor box and use OBD1 clips. I also have to extend a couple of wires and rewire the alternator clip with OBD1. About another 2 hours of so and the civic should be back on the road. i will take pics of the once i get my digicam back from my buddy

It's alive!!!!! B20 civic is up and running. I just have to clean it up and make the wiring look professional. I also need to fabricate a 2 inch extension on my exhaust pipe since I cut some off when the D-turbo was in.
It was a busy 3 day. Between me and my buddy, we pulled the B20 off an EG, drop his fully built LSVTEC turbo in it, then the next day we pulled out the D-turbo and dropped the B20 in. The third day was just getting both cars up and rewiring. We even had time to fuk around in the junkyard and grabbed a few connectors. Tomorrow will be the day when I pull all the turbo related electronics and gauges off my civic. I will also make an attempt to fix the exhaust pipe cuz this B20 is loud as hell. This weekend I'm gonna put my built JDM motor together and get it ready for boost. Once the civic starts driving fine, I will recommence putting my turbo Teg together. I'd like to race this season...... dang.. I gotta change my sig. |
