I think i ruptured

a disk in my lower back...i don't know what exactly that entails but my back really hurts and i can't think of a reason why...does anyone know of anything to do so i can feel less pain? I've been in pain all day, and nobody seems to care...my parents pretty much ignored me, but i really do think it's serious. I'm in a lot of pain

I don't know the full story on my dad's back, but he got surgery on his lower back 2 years ago. It started with a pinch nerve in his leg and yadda yadda yadda...ANYWAY, about a year after surgery, his back started to hurt again and he says the best medication he's taken thus far [besides the one prior to surgery] is..okay, so I just tried to call my parents and aparently I can;t get ahold of them. Go to Costco..that's where he got his. If you really need some time, I'll call again and get it. It's like $65 but works well. In the mean time, I would get something with Glucosamine.

Well a ruptured disc is very serious. If you honestly think that is the case, you need to go to the hospital.
If that is what is wrong, you do not want to be hopped up on all different kinds of pills that will change how they treat you.
Go to the hospital

PAT, I assumed thathe plans on going to the hospital, but now that I re-read his post, I realize that he didn't mention it at all. So, good idea. . You might wanna start back tracking to the day before it started to hurt, they're gonna ask you what you've been doing. I notice a lot of people choose not to go to the hospital [for some odd reason] but I highly suggest seeing a specialist and at least going to one of those Immediate Care facilities.

Yes...listen to Pat...our resident pre-med. Or something of the sort. I would imagine a ruptured or slipped disc would become immediately obvious, but either way I would seek a doctor if you think you're seriously hurt. Going about business as usual will only make it worse.

well, i asked my mom if i could go to the hospital and she said that i have to make an appointment..so unless the pain goes away i'll have to be in pain for over a week waiting for an appointment. I still can't figure out why this is happening. It's just really weird that my back would start hurting all of a sudden...
I really have problems just sitting...all i can really do is stand up perfectly upright and lay on my back. And when i sit up and sit down is when it really hurts...And to top it all off my mom decided to take one of the wires to my xbox so i can't play halo 2 at all today. and i can't even do anything with friends because my back is hurt... I really hope this isn't something serious.

You do not make appointments for something like this.
Tell your mom to stop being a turd and have her take you to a 24hr clinic, at the very least. If anything, they will conduct an xray and give you some sort of pain medication that will ease the situation. If they discover that it IS a disc issue, they will tell you how to set up the next step...that or do it for you.

I will never understand people that do not take serious pain as being just that...serious.

wow this is something i know too much about. point blank if it is a spinal injury such as ruptured discs ect, it can get worse and can cause paralysis. want to be stuck in a wheelchair? unable to pee, unable to get an errection, unable to even poop? if ya dont want to end up like this then get your rear to the ER. if you experience any tingling i suggest calling an ambulance, you will need methaprednisone and that can be given en route to teh ER.

Sounds like something's pinching on a nerve. Dude...go to the hospital. If your mom won't take you, get a friend to do it. You NEED to go. Wouldn't you rather go and find out it's something easily fixed than have something seriously wrong and wait around for a week?

Read her this thread? I seriously can't understand why she wouldn't want to help you. But... since she won't, get a friend to take you if you feel you need to go.

ok, your mom gets no respect from me... There are things that I want to say, but won't because she's your mom...but...fuck that. Its her damn job to look out for her kid, and she's totally neglecting that.

Now, call a friend and go! I don't want to hear anymore "but"s GO god dammit

As I mentioned in my first post about my dad started off with a pinhing nerve..led to surgery and now about to go thruogh another surgery in February. While you have been struggling to do your daily habits, you should have or could have at leats gotten something with Glucosamine. Seriously, man, I feel so bad for you, I wish we can do something for ya. :(. Can you get a friend to take you to the hosptial? Also mentioned above in my first post, one of those Immediate Care clinics. This isn't something to be left aside.

This reminds me, in 7th grade, my friend who had a pace maker and felt as if her heart was weakening. She told her mother about it but her mother did nothing. Absoleutely nothing. Insead, she'd leave Lacey at home all day to cook and care for herself while she was at the casino. Long story short, Casey passed away 28 days after that day she told her mom.

Just a story that related to yours, I don't mean to thing negative or anything, just worried about your health.

dude. nerve pain and sci is nothing to mess with! omg i wish you could understand why i am preaching this. i was at the spinal cord injury rally in ny this summer. i met about 100 people personally and another 3,000 were there! alot of that shit was treatable but they are now in chairs because of lack of medical care. call a damn ambulance! tell your mom flat out, she needs to take you or your calling an ambulance!
