GReddy turbo installation 92-00 civics

DISCLAIMER: The procedures written below are not standard GReddy or Trust co. issue. These words are written based solely on my personal experience. It is not a “textbook” procedure. I will not be responsible for any individual mishap and/or car damage during the project. Use common sense to practice safety. Enjoy and goodluck.

Elapse time: 10 hrs
-These are the suggested minimum requirement, at least in my opinion:

NOTE: 92-95 civic does not need a map bypass unit.

PARTS:
-GReddy turbo kit (TD04-h)
-GReddy Intercooler kit
-GReddy BOV type S
-GReddy turbo timer
-Vortech FMU or any fuel curve enhancing unit
-Map “missing link” or 5 check valves (P# 47149)

MATERIALS:
-Jack
-Jack stand
-Wheel stopper
-Assorted vacuum hoses
-Assorted vacuum T’s
-Anti-seize
-Teflon tape or liquid seal
-Permatex copper (high temp)
-Loctite red
-Electrical tape
-Zip lock bags
-Rags
-Oil drain bucket
-Rubber grommet
-Brackets
-Assorted nuts and bolts
-.75 to 1 gal of synthetic motor oil
-Oil filter
-Electrical wire (high temp)

TOOLS:
-Metric socket set
-Metric open end/box end set
-Adjustable crescent wrench
-Oil filter wrench
-Wire cutters
-Pliers
-Screw driver, flat
-Screw driver, cross
-Electric drill
-Assorted drill bits
-Center punch
-Light hammer
-Pencil
-Utility knife

THESE ARE THE BASIC STEPS:
1. I strongly recommend to complete the installation of the turbo timer, fuel curve enhancing unit (blue/black box=FCU), and gauges on an earlier day. This will save you a lot of time on the turbo project.
2. Pre-assemble the turbo kit as much as possible: Bolt the exhaust manifold and the turbo kit together, along with the exhaust adapter. You may also go ahead put the oil drain pipe flange. Use plenty of anti-seize on all the bolts. Go ahead tighten these bolts. Place the banjo fitting on. Ensure that it is facing outwards. Do not forget to place the 2 copper rings that goes in between the banjo fitting.
3. Intake section: on the intake section, you will need to drill a hole for the intake temp sensor. Position this hole beside the existing vacuum connection. Drill before the vacuum connection. It should be in this manner:
air filter---intake temp sensor hole---vacuum conn---compressor assembly.
Place a rubber grommet in the hole. This will secure the intake temp sensor. It may take a few try to make the sensor fit. Clean and inspect the intake pipe. Assemble the filter unit to the intake pipe. Secure it loosely.
4. Park your car nicely and disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. Pull the hand brake up and place the car in gear.
5. Assuming that you do not have a stock intake system, prepare the map sensor by following these steps: unscrew the 2 screws holding the map sensor to the throttle body. Place the “missing link” on top, then the map sensor. Secure the 2 screws. If u choose to rig the “check valves” instead, follow these steps: unscrew the map sensor. Rig 5 check valves in parallel (not series!) with the flow going outwards. Use the T’s and vacuum hoses. Connect one end of the “rigged check valves” to the map sensor. The other end must be plugged-in to the hole on top of the throttle body (where the map sensor used to be). Improvise! Find a way to secure that hose snuggly. Use an elbow that will fit securely in that hole.
6. Disconnect the vacuum lines from your current intake pipe. Unplug the intake temp sensor. Remove the current intake system off. Cover the intake manifold/throttle body.
7. Place the wheel stopper on the back side of the rear wheels. Jack the car up until sufficient room is achieved for the jack stands. Make sure that the jack stand is flat on the ground. The jack stand should be holding the weight of the car NOT the jack itself. Place the jack stand one on each side of the car.
8. Start draining the motor oil. Unscrew the oil cap on the valve cover and slowly remove the oil plug on the oil pan. Ofcourse, drain the oil to an oil bucket. While the oil is draining…..
9. Remove the bumper. There should be 2 bolts on the bottom, 1 screw on each corner, and about 6 plastic screws on top. Save these screws.
10. Remove the lower mud guard. There should be 2 plastic screws on each side of the tire well. 2 bolts on the bottom. And a few more plastic screws on the corners. Save these screws.
11. When the oil pan is fully drained. Recap and replug the motor.
12. Unplug the O2 sensor on the headers. Remove the stock headers. You may have to loosen the bracket that holds the back side of the header. Save the steel gasket of the stock headers.
