Sound System Noobie
Hello,
I need a CD player ... Cassette = :o I want one with a knob for Volume... I don't like the button volume, and It HAS to light up BLUE !!! One thing I was considering is this New MP3 technology stuff... I don't really know Jack about it, but it sounds cool. How do you get MP3's from your Comp to your car ?? (i'm guessing burn them on CD's) How many MP3's can a CD and or other format Hold ?? I was thinking pioneer's DEH 9300 or something like that... yes, no, ?!?!?!?

Hiya Mate, i have a Pioneermp7400 which is a cd mp3 the advantage of this unit is you burn and store in the car hence you dont need to remove the unit etc.
i would stick to cd/mp3 its far better and its easy for you to change from cd/mp3 as most cd ( standard are) 700Mb which in turn would be about 10 hours of music on one cd. a little scan on the cd and it makes a crackle an pop. try to use blue cd's they are better dont get scached as quick. casstettes are a old trick i still dont know why car manufactures give casstees with cars when its clear noone uses them ( noone i know) aLSO IT WELL I THINK SO does not REALLY matter which mp3 player you use as its compressed music ( can we argue that boyz and gurls!!) Also to make matters worse Nero are going to release a MP4 player which i thought was the divx format can anyone help me on that one) need any more help on the pioneer ask me |

one word. pioneer.
don't know about the blue... but not many light up only blue. the only ones i know that do are certain panasonic's and DO NOT get a panasonic. pioneer decks play mp3s they just don't advertise that they do. not sure why... if you want a knob that makes things more difficult since 80% of the newer stereos are button controlled volume. if you want a knob look into the deck i have in my signature... DEH-P5200. has a knob that pushes in and out and clicks like the end of a pen which makes the knob more accessible. quick note... standard cd's are 650 megs and hold 70 minutes of music in wav format. you can buy 700 meg cds that hold 80 minutes of music as well but they are not the standard size. while we're on the topic of cdrs... the green dyed cd's are the best. (memorex, etc.) blue ones have the shortest data retention. btw. ive had my pioneer for about 2-3 months now... and i've yet to hear it skip... and i'd notice. also... it was used when i purchased it. i can play cd's that are so horribly scratched both my computer drives can't even detect there is a disc in the drive. so you don't really hafta worry much about scratches unless they are huge gouges in the plastic making it impossible to play on any player. don't get the p9200... its not worth it... the extra money is just for the flashing lights which you will get tired of real quick. you shouldn't need to spend over 300 bucks to get a quality pioneer deck that will do everything you need it to. chris. |

at this day and time, the 650m cdrs are about to fall off the market.
Its true the that the greenish ones are better.. But memorex is a little on the crappy side.. for around 1$ each, you could get Kodak Ultima 80 min cds.. They are the best.

While we're on the topic of CD-Rs, Maxvla said that the 80 mins are slightly larger. I haven't tried these since I'm slowly going through a 100 pack of 74's. Will these still fit fine in a standard car cd player like my Eclipse?

think ya meant 94 accord ex...
anyways. ive gone through about 250 memorex cdrs and haven't ever had a problem. i get about 50 at a time for 23.99. which is about 50 cents a piece with tax and whatnot... i wouldn't ever spend a buck a piece. ive overburned my memorex cdrs about 50 megs making 750 megs on one cd... not a problem. [sarcasm]they're just so crappy...[/sarcasm] sure you can spend more on kodak's and whatever... but you are just throwing your money away. yeah trevor... they are physically the same size... identical even to the human eye, but they somehow squeeze an extra 50 megs on there. calling 4jacks. you here? |

um...for 4jack's desire to have blueness on his deck, my blaupunkt austin has blue backlightingon the main panel (but the buttons and knob have red accents) But of course thats if you like blaupunkt - it'll run ya bout 180 from crotchfield, but no mp3s...you can buy a portable unit with decnt skip protect and plus it into aux input (haven't tried it but will)

blue decks include kenwood, (please don't get one of these), Aiwa, (even worse), Blaupunkt, (not recomended), panasonic, (3 outta 4 car audio installers don't recomend them), eclipse, (buy at your own risk), pioneer, (the best of the bunch). that should cover all main brands. if i left one out it was because i either did it on purpose, or just forgot about it. but look at the time. i need sleepy.
