Vortech can blow me

Yes...pun definitely intended. I just saw an ad in a Mustang mag for a Vortech system designed for the '05-'06 V6 cars. Now if it's not lame enough to market a blower system to the V6 crowd when a V8 was readily available from the factory, the performance numbers sealed the deal. For a mere $4,300 you too can gain an extra 40hp and 20lb/ft (with a dual-pass water-air aftercooler, no less). What the fuck? I could get the from bolt ons and exhaust on that same motor. Thanks to Vortech...they've once again lowered the bar for blower systems.

On a somewhat similar note, my GMC truck (which is powered by a 4.3L Vortec V6...that's Vortec without the "H") is a piece of shit. I've got an intermittent electrical problem which causes the car to be for all intents and purposes dead at certain times and then magically come back to life as if nothing had ver happened whenever it feels like it. It's funny...my 22 year old Mustang runs like a champ and can do 0-60 faster than Tara Reed can destroy a viable career, yet my 5 year old GMC Slownoma can't go a single summer without giving me a fucking headache. Death to GM!

I'm thinking it has something to do with the battery terminals. Remember...these are no mere battery terminals. It has a side post battery. You know...the kind where you actually have to screw these relatively small bolts into the battery. I think they just come loose whenever they feel like it just to piss me off.

nah i've gotta agree with steve. Ford tends to have stupid mechanical designs here and there and have some regular failures (on certain models), but gm's wiring on almost all their vehicles sucks. I've noticed that they put a lot of safeguards on many systems (ie, one sensor dies, the car finds another way to function). The problem with that mentality is that there's more shit to break, and when something does break, and the safeguard kicks on to make the car drivable, people don't really notice a drivability difference and ignore the CEL, which fucks everything up.

And yeah that vortech shit is rediculous.

It's not quite that simple. You see...if I sold my truck and bought a Honda, I'd have to throw another $12K in modification into it just to be able to legally drive it. When I buy a car, I plan on keeping it for as long as possible. I'd love to be able to buy and sell cars like some people do, but it's just not possible for me.
