looking for wheels...
i wanna get a new set of rims for my black civic, and i think i wanna go with a black set of tenzos, but i'm not sure... i'm looking at the rs 5 wheels, or maybe the mean 6s. i want to go with 17" if at all possible, but my last set of 17s didn't clear my brake caliper...
does anyone have pictures of their black civic with black wheels (preferably with a machined lip) or have suggestions as to what would look good? Last edited by wheresmylicense : 06-11-2005 at 07:22 AM. |

Not polished lip.
This is an old picture with 16's Motegi MR7: I sold those rims and replaced it with 16's Rota Slips but it's hard to see tho: Why do you want to use 17's? You'll get more performance out of 16's FYI..... |

the same wheels that almost didn't clear the caliper on my accord. if you want it to clear then you need to forget about the lips on wheels

does anyone have a picture of a civ with 16s from a side view? what i really want is just for the wheels to fill the wheel well nicely with some low-profile tires. the sixteens look good in the one picture above, but it's at an odd angle...
truth be told, i'm more going for looks than performance, so i'd rather have the wheel well filled than have a smaller rim. |

16's perform no better then 17s if not worse because of the bigger tire you would use, 45 instead of 40 there would be more flex in the sidewall |

for side to side handling yes, but in strait line and getting upto speed on our tq monster hondas, moving the extra weight of the rim an inch farther from the rotating center of the wheel makes eats more power. at home test if you dont believe me: get a 2 foot poll with a 5 lb weight on the very end of it. spin it from BCD to TCD (bottom dead center to top dead) then repeat with a 3 foot poll and tell me which one was harder to do. as for the sidewalls... my 100% intuitive guess on this(read: might be wrong) the smaller sidewalls wouldnt let as much of the rubber "lay down" on the road meaning mroe likely for wheel hop. i noticed it with my 17's (215/40/17 racing harts) over my 15's (205/60/15 stock 94 prelude vtec rims)but it could have been other variables.

my vote is for the 5zigen FN01R-C in the new black/polished lip combo. I don't have any pics of them on a vic, but trust me on this.

very good suggestion. i like them a lot. like i said, i'd really like to stick with a polished lip, but it can't be too deep becuase they need to fit over the brakes...
the lip on those look pretty shallow... i will look into them. |
