dont buy a sound system it will just weigh your ride down and give you no performance, get some wheels and lower your ride!!

don't want to rip on anyone here, but a stereo ain't gonna kill performance unless you are running 12 30# amps, 18 subs lotsa bondo and fibreglass....it just ain't gonna happen

wheels? well lets see with the tire a stock accords wheels weighs roughly 22#, an average 17 with, lets say a Mich Pilot will weigh 30#-38# EASILY. this is what slows you down, not stereos

as far as your budget vs what you want? if you want kwality, $1200 ain't even gonna begin to cover it. I am not saying it can't be done...
Aiwa MP3 h/u - $190
2 Sony 12's (wired for 2ohm load) - $140
Box for subs - $110
XM unit - $350 (for a decent one and don't forget XM is a PAY service)
cheapo 5 way amp - $400

this is just one example, if you wanted to get serious....

Kenwood Mp3 h/u - $550
4 way amp for small speaks - $270 (ebay price)
2 Infinity Perfect 12's (all you really need is one) - $350 (ebay)
Box for subs - $110
Class D amp to run subs - $280 (ebay)
No EQ/Xover necessary if the amps have good lp/hp filters
XM unit - $350
Good wiring and distribution - $250
If you are running stock speaks in the doors/deck, replace them - $480
mounting hardware - $90
Brown Bread - $150

just my 2 cents

oh well sorry
i knew when i had my 2 12"s and box it was heavy and slowed me down a lil, but on a accord it could possibly be different, sorry if i offended anyone

not offended, just trying to make the distinction between static and rotating mass

but my bad I spose, if the sub box weighed 200# (its possible) then that may make a diff

Like Demonic said, 1200$ isnt going to get you very far..

In any case, let us know what you want to achieve with this setup.
What you listen to.
Any preferences regarding brands, or want to avoid any.

Anything else particular that need to be taken into consideration.

My philosophy is that, you need to decide what you want your system to be, then slowly build till you get there.. Being realistic...

$1200 will get u a hella ways...dependin on where u get stuff. U go to Houston get u a Punch 800a2, 2 Punch HX2 fifteens in a box for $635. Then u get u 4 (quality, maybe not top of the line) tweets, some 6 1/2s and 6*9s and a Crossfire Tek 50.4 for maybe another $250. Now we'll say you get a deal and u pay $800-850 (if u buy it all at the same time) for all that, now u have roughly $400 for a head unit...and with all the options and stuff u want on your HU, I'm going to have to refer u to someone else, cuz i don't look into all that "high speed" stuff...but it's just an idea.

Deck:
Kenwood KDC-MP8017- $275
No satellite, but are you really gonna use it?

Speakers:
Front: Kicker Impulse I6.2 Separates: $180
Rear: Kicker Impulse I650 Coaxials: $105

Subs:
2 Kicker I12 Impulse: $160
3 Kicker I10 Impulse: $195
2 JL Audio 12W0s: $200
3 JL Audio 10W0s: $240

Amps:
RF Punch 200.4- $180
RF Punch 250.2- $190
-or-
RF Punch 600.5C- $440

Anywhere from $1090-$1240 (not including shipping or wiring and accessories), for, IMO, more than decent equipment. You could even cut out the Power 200.4, since the deck has built in crossovers. This would leave some money for your cables, box, etc. The seperates up front would sound great, and the matching coaxes in back would provide decent rear fill. all the subs are super power efficient, and that Power 250.2 would pound the hell out of them, given the proper box.

What you want to do on your bidget is possible, however keep in mind how addicting this is. Spend the money now, and you'll be ripping it out within 18 months, guaranteed. Speaking from experience, always looking for the upgrade. I have $6000 worth of product in my car and a $3000 intall, and I'm ripping it out and starting over.

No- that's all the best prices I've found for the equipment, new, from an internet dealer, for civic2k2 (I usually don't condone internet purchasing, but it's the only way he'll get what he wants for $1200).

What I have (for sale denoted by an *):

Kenwood KDCX911
Kenwood Excelon Changer
AudioControl Three.1
6.5" Kicker Resolution Separates All Around*
Kicker ZX460*
2 Kicker Solobaric S12ds*
2 Kicker R360s*, one to each Solo
Monster 401 Reference RCAs
Stinger 1/0 AWG Power Cable and Accessories
Stinger Red Top 800 Amp Gel Cell Deep Cycle Battery
Custom Built 160 Amp Alternator
Fiberglass/Vinyl Sub Enclosure*
Plexiglass Amp Racks*

The install pieces (Amp Racks and Enclosure) WILL fit a 90-93 Integra. Amp racks require removal of spare tire. Pics in link in sig.

Sorry, didn't mean to turn this into a for sale thread...

Look on ebay for audiobahn subs and amps cant go wrong with audiobahn. I would go with a alpine head unit with at least 3 preamp out puts to do it all right.
