Best place to mount a LCD screen?
Ok I'm hooking up my PS2 in my car and then my LCD screen. I am getting the detatchable screen so I can take it inside at night time and stuff so it doesn't get stolden. I was thinking about mounting the screen in my glove box of my del sol.
Anybody have any cool ideas for me? I know I can figure it out...or can any body post some pics so I can get some good idea's. Thanks a lot.

wel the glove box would be the first spot I would say right off hand. as you can hide it when it's closed and have it out of the way but not really necessary when you are going to be able to detach the face.
You might be able to put it in the dash somewhere but alot of time you have to remove the airbag or loose something to install it into the dash. Hope this might help a bit...good luck and be sure to share w/ us some pics of where you put it.. |

Get a normal flat panel monitor for 400 bucks and put it in the visor on the passenger side, that looks clean... or you could do the fold out screen and put it in the glovebox, but thats about the only place its going to look right.. and when your visor is up you cant see it.

or have it come out of the dash like the new infiniti's. it will be a lot of work but well worth it

I have a playstation behind my passenger seat and a LCD screen flush mounted in my glove box. I'll take a pic or two tonight so you can see how I did it. It's a 5" LCD screen and I had to trim the glove box some to get it to fit. Then I made a plastic panel with a cutout for the TV, mounted the tv and installed the panel wrapped in fabric in front of that. pics on the way... |

Id put the screen in the glove box. It would be safe from getting bumped, and you would not have to worry about people trying to steel it because they would not know it is in your car.

there's quite a few places, you can use goosenecks to mount them, or just stuff them somewhere. If you have double din deck I've seen several folks that glass in a monitor in the spot for the deck.
I stuffed one in the cubby under my deck, and one on a gooseneck between the seats |

if your going to do a monitor, do it right.. put it somewhere thats factory-like, just dont do a gooseneck, thats soo ghetto.. we do it for people all the time at work, and it never looks good.. i know saav makes a rearview mirror with a 5" monitor in it.. its basically fits over your old mirror.. and it just unplugs and you can take it out

i have a fully motorized 7.5" lcd screen.
its the panasonic in dash dvd player and processor ( 9000U unit, 7000u processor ). the thing is great. pops out to reveal the screen to watch movies, and slides back in if you don't want it out. you wouldn't even know its there when its retracted. i love it! |

I just saw a picture of a car with the lcd in the steering wheel where the air bag was. Thats a pretty damn good idea(not safe,or legal) but still I think it was just a show car. it look really cool.

I'm gonna get the Sony Xplod in dash motorized monitor. Actually, I'm gonna have a whole Xplod set up. You can get a picture of it here http://www.refurbdepot.com/productde...roduct_ID=2299
I saw it at my local Fry's(don't know if these are nation wide. great electronics store) and fell in love with it. Very reasonable price and I trust Sony's reliability. |

Personally i wouldn't go with a sony system. Their name is appealing, however i've heard not to go with sony because it sucks. The whole system sucks. Most people will recommend an Alpine system (my personal fav.) or something like that. Bottom line is it's your money, you choose. just a thought.
