yea its been out for a while. They actually bought Giant AntiSpyware, slapped their branding on it, and called it a beta.

It does a decent job, but doesn't get everything. Its a good solution for the casual user, because it will update itself and scan on a schedule, just like an anti-virus program.

whats not cool about it:
If you run dual displays, you see the window open even if you "minimized" it. sloppy programming.

It takes up memory. I already run antivirus in the background. I don't need another program scanning my shit. especially since the best way to not get spyware, is don't go to crap sites. I have had zero spyware problems lately because I don't go to these scummy popular sites. better to avoid the problem then have a memory eater protecting me from the problem.

but yes, it is decent for what it is.

PeerGuardian is also great for keeping you off of bad sites in the first place. Try and access a site that is known for being infested and it'll stop you cold. It does everything short of throw up a message that says "hey...don't go there you fucking moron". But it's essentially just a blacklisting firewall so it's not going to actually get rid of anything. So far I'm liking MS Anti spyware...been using it for 2 or 3 months pretty successfully. I do, however, share some of Aaron's complaints.

I just got PeerGuardian, today actually. I havent gone anything to play with it, yet...
I dont understand the Aggressive and Normal modes...but I havent looked too much at it either

Aggressive mode saves some CPU power by basically blanketing IP ranges to block rather than singling out specific addresses to block. For instance, if a hypothetical bad IP range was 00.000.00.000 - 10.000.00.000 and you stumble across 00.500.00.000 instead of trying to track down the specific point of origin, it just blocks it and lists it as being a bad IP range. I always run it in aggressive just because I run it all the time and don't want it sucking up processing power.

ive been using the windows one and ad-aware and ad-aware always picks up more. most the time the windows one dosnt find anything, then when i run the other one it'll find some more.
