Type-__ and 300z shocks

What is the deal with Type-R on Nissan altimas and Type-S on acura TL's and Toyota Corollas?

I thought Type-R was a Honda licensed surfix or something...

While I'm at it, what's the deal with the 300z adjustable suspension? Is it a special shock or can it be substituted with Tokico or Konis without losing functionality?

acura is owned by honda, and honda gives its type-s badge to its... i guess higher end of cars

type-r altima is some chump thinking it adds hp i think, and the corolla S is just the sports package. to my knowladge honda dosnt have rights to type-# anything, other than name recognition.

if your talking about the stock 300z suspension, it is just a 3 way adjustable.

Uhhhh
here.

Aren't they adjustable through the console though? Is that why it talks about modification?

who ever puts a badge on their car and it doesn't represent anything is a plain old ricer. I have seen the "A" bagde on civics before and i thought it was hilarious and plain old dumb. I have seen type r on Serntras too and guess what my impresion hasn't changed.

Hmmmm...as for the badging, I don't think a company can copyright words like "type" or any particular letter. Other companies just avoid using the designations as to not be accussed of copying the other company.

As for the adjustable suspension...it looks like what they used to put on some of the later 90's Saleens. There was a knob on the dash that would firm up or soften the shocks/struts by turning it. They were Monroes, if memory serves me. I prefer manually adjusting them...less stuff to mess with that way.

I've seen a civic with a Type R badge and directly on the other side of the license plate was a GT-R badge, imagine my laughter

It's obvious who is slapping Type-R / GS-R badges on their cars, but I've seen new Nissan Sentras with the R badge right below the trim badge and Acura and Corolla Type-S's. The corolla I think didn't say "Type-S" just "S" but you get the idea. I was just wondering if it was just a J-spec type deal or something cause it kinda confuzzled me.

Yeah, the 300z's had adjustable touring/sport suspension right in the dash, but I wasn't aware that it was a special shock, I'd never really thought about it. Is the switched wired into the shock or can other adjustables be substituted. Yeah yeah, they'd probably have to be ECVSA. Do adjustables come in that format?

There is a Toyota Corrolla S and all it is is a REd S badge, nothing else

The Honda Type-S models are the Sports models of that version of car, and the Type-S designation is US and Canada only if my memory serves me correctly.

You can't patent it unless it's the name of a vehicle,

how'd you'd like to see this on your car

2002 Subaru Impreza WRX STi Type RA Spec C

yeah that's an official car name....lil carried away eh?
