The engine code is stamped on the shortblock- B18C5. That's the best way to see if it's a legit ITR or a knock off. It could still be a swap, though. To be absolutely sure, research the VIN.

are you talking about american type r's? or japanese type r?
Type R's have 5 lugs instead of 4 like the rest of the integras...japanese type r's have steering wheel on the right side if im not mistaken...sometimes you can tell by their interior but someone could just buy it... |

.... i thought the only real type R's are the imported ones, but that the steering wheels had to be converted to left hand drive?

nope, jap R's have RHD, no air bags on passenger or driver, the front head lights are one piece, with black housing (ohohoh so sweet)
the US R's have left hand drive, air bags, and I do believe the seats are sold with black seats with red stitching.

like someone said....the bolt pattern. type Rs are 5.
also type r's have that specific rear wing, but that could easily be put on though...but if theres a reg. integra wing, that's a give away. and last, type Rs don't have a rear wiper blade. |

If I'm not totally mistake, you can also check for the A/C on the climate control panel. The Type R's didn't come with it to my knowledge. Also the R's don't have a sunroof, having been bred for the track.

Type R's do not have a sunroof. Although i believe that some integra rs's also come with no sun roof. But i have yet to see one.

USDM ITR:
B18C5 stamped on the block "LSD" should be stamped on the Tranny in black lettering Red Valve Cover Single stage intake manifold brushed aluminum front strut bar 5 lug rims 22mm rear sway bar rear subframe is thicker (compared to other Teg's) silver colored rear lower tie bar No side mouldings front lip R rear wing body matched painted side skirts suede interior w/ red stitching ITR # plate on the arm rest no sunroof '97-'98 ITR only came in CW White. '97 had no A/C ('98, '00, '01 had A/C, but I think it was an option in '98) Amber gauge and center console lighting. Amber clock Body welds/seems are much better I'm sure there is more but I can't think of anything else right now. Check out: http://www.itrca.com/ for more info in the R. Good luck! |
