Yeah...that was fucking weak. I mean how do you lose to a country where people stand in line for toilet paper? If it was Germany or Brazil or or Argentina or something I could understand...but the Czechs?

I'm glad China didn't make the pool this year..they didn't score a single goal in the last two WCs..save from embarrassment
We all knew what was coming for the US right? |

fuck yea, the czechs are number 2 in the WC standings.
Us will not make to the sweet 16. they have to get past itialy still. but the best part of the WC is anyone can win any game. EDIT: im sad to see poland doing so piss poor. but i hope korea wins.

Man...the U.S. just doesn't deserve it (I'm sorry to say). People here ignore soccer like it's a homeless man begging for change. A ton of other countries live and die soccer (Argentina, Brazil, England, Germany, Italy, etc.) and they just want it more. If the U.S. made it very far at all, it'd be pure luck.

^ Agreed, after all, it was luck in '02.
Absolutely correct about the soccer-craze in other countries. I still remember the WC craziness in Hong Kong before I moved here. |

I use to play soccer in Highschool.. Then I started driving and didn't have time to play any sports since I had to work. I miss playing, unfortunately there aren't any leagues for adults around here. :(
I don't understand why Soccer hasn't caught on more in the states. I guess it's because everyone puts so much emphasis on footbal, baseball, and basketball.. Maybe one day Americans will start paying more attention to soccer.. Who knows.

I think that's a prett fair guess. I also think we like our sports to be violent. Soccer in the U.S. isn't nearly as violent as it is elsewhere. After you watch a South American soccer game (and the ensuing riot) and you see some guy get slide tackled and all of a sudden his bone is coming out of his leg, U.S. soccer looks like a bunch of sissy boys playing grab ass. Plus the U.S. likes to be different from anyone in Europe...no matter how wrong it makes us. By the by...Germany vs. Poland on ESPN Classic right now (1am CST)

Brazil always wins. Always. Even when they lose, they win. Them and fucking Argentina. But then again, if you live in Argentina and you lose, you get shot (literally...it happened after the last world cup). So yeah...there's your incentive to win.

How the fuck did Sweden even manage to tie with England? They didn't even deserve it...they farted in a goal in the 90th minute. Bullshit.

Yeah...but I don't have a schedule for the games so I just catch them on ESPN Classic. Today I watched Germany beat Argentina. Suck on that Argentina. I do, however, hate it when games go to shootouts. I'd much rather see a game end in regulation time or OT.

shoot out is best out of 5 penalty kicks.

A shootout comes only in the quarterfinals and finals of the World Cup. Basically if 2 teams are tied at the end of regulation play they have two 15 minute overtime periods to try and beat each other. If they use those up and are still tied the go to a shootout. Basically they take a penalty kick from 12 yards out one at a time and the goalie tries to block it. Best out of 5wins. If they tie in the shootout, it goes to sudden death penalty kicks where first one who scores wins.

It's pretty much always that way. Sure, Brazil and Argentina clean house a lot, but usually it's Germany, England, or Italy kicking serious ass. It all comes down to who wants it more and the U.S. and most of Asia just aren't as hungry as South America or Europe. China's made some good showings, but only in the past few cups.
