So if you were to get a new car.....
Guidelines:
1. Under $30,000 before tax, title, etc. 2. Has to be a roomy car. Doesn't have to be a sedan but you gotta be able to put golf clubs or more than a gallon of milk in it. 3. Must be reasonable on insurance. 4. Must have torque. This pretty much rules out any Hondas (not bashing; I've owned 2). 5. Can NOT be a project. Has to be quick out of the box. Example: Get a '93 hatch and swap an engine in it. <- not good So. Lets hear some ideas. Keep it on topic. Don't argue with another person about why your choice is better. Everyone has an opinion and I wanna hear 'em. I'll list what I'm looking at after I see some ideas.

Acura RSX type S A-SPEC (tight car especially in the back, but its honda and its sporty. The A-SPEC makes the rsx look much better)
Dodge SRT-4 (I would lease it, I'm not sure of the car's reliability) Ford Mustang GT Coupe (But It would be really cool if you could get the Mach1) ===Really pushing that 30k limit=== Nissan 350Z Nissan Maxima Mitsubushi Lancer Evolution *********************** If it doesn't need to be a car *********************** Ford F150 XLT -------- American Muscle!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I would probably look at some of the cars already mentioned, plus the new TL (280hp isn't that bad at all) and a few others I can't name of the top of my head right now.
I thought it was only the TL's that came with A-SPEC? |

RSX is ok. Still I'd prefer more room. You're probably right about the SRT. Not sure how the gas mileage will run on the Stang. 350Z lacks room. Maxima is REALLY pushing the $30k limit. The new F-150's are nice! But no truck for me. Quote:
Finally someone mentions the IS300. Its one of my choices. Here's the list EVO8 WRX (maybe an STi, scoop is crazy) IS300 I test drove an EVO yesterday. All I have to say is wow. Its an amazing car. I may be able to get a good deal on it as well. We'll see. I'm hoping to make it to a Subaru dealer to test drive a WRX. And then over to the Lexus dealer. The IS300 is sort of my "realistic dream car". I've wanted one ever since they came out. Last April I promised myself I'd have one in 2 years. We'll see what happens.

MSRP is $33k on the GTo. I'd be curious to see how close teh dealer price is. The main issue is that its a Pontiac. That means in about 2 years everything on that car will rattle, squeak, & come apart.

Are you too tall?
Get WRX or EVO or IS300 or Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Don't get GTO cuz USA made the engine weak. I perfer Sedan than coupe. What about Audi S4? |

I totatally forgot about Audi
good obervation pbateson. The IS300, is a nice car. Its rear wheel drive and its got a straight six. I find its a little bit pricey for the car, but then again its cheaper then a bmw. If I were to finance the car I would calculate the difference of buying a new car and a used car. Lets say the dealer gives you 3% and you decide to finance $30,000 for 4 years you pay $31,873 Lets say your buying a used car and you need to finance $25,000 for 4 years and their rate is 7%, you end up paying $28,735 So If there is a 5k difference between a new and used car's sticker price, I think I would go new. |

The S4 is a trim level of the A4. Just FYI. They also start at $45k. Nice thought though. Quote:
Still a Neon no matter what they wanna say. Yeah I'm bitten by the boost bug too. I love the IS300, but I love boost more. Quote:
Yeah I drive 50 miles a day for work. Gas mileage is a BIG plus. That 302 would drain a tank faster than I could fill it up. Quote:
Not hardly. The STi is meant for speed. You realize its an OPTION to have a radio in there right? Quote:
You my friend should be shot for even bringing that up.

Look into a new accord. I got mine fully loaded with the navi for 27900 (had to haggle) but i love the car. You should defnitly go test drive one.
I drive 50 mile to work everday and get 30 mpg. The car has a good amount of power. You should defintly go take a look at one. Last edited by drdingo21 : 03-28-2004 at 06:21 PM. |
