Painting body kits myself ...

My friend just got an airbrush and i was wondering if it would be a good idea to paint my own body kit. What would i need if i were to do it?

You need to go to a profession paint store or body shop
and have them get you color matched paint from the sticker in your door jam.
Get professional grade clear coat while your thier
and get a nice primer

Get paint thinner and ask him what type and what % to mix

Sand down your body kit with 120 grit sand paper and NO PRESSURE.. nice and SMOOOTH

Practice spray painting your Mothers Minivan so you do not ruin your nice Body kit... once you get the hang of the airbrush and are able to get nice even THIN coats .... You may start on your body kit

3 thin coats of primer
5 thin coats of your body color
10 thin coats of clear coat !!!

This will take you a LONG time... the wether must be Nice, and not windy. and you use a lot of those little tiny jars of paint

=)

that's what you need

I say go to it... You can always sand it down and take it to the Pro's if you really mess up.

Start with the smallest peice of the body kit though...
