Intake?
DOes the company really matter, i mean i have heard some people say that aem is the way to go, but i couldnt afford it, so was buying a kit from ebay mean i didn't make a right decision (it is a cold air intake, and i upgraded the filter to a k&n)

only thing that really matters is the filter
I say get a cheap one off ebay and then get a k&n filter for it |

that is what i did, i bought a CAI off ebay for like 70 bucks, and it came with a k&n filter(the box was sealed and has k&n on the filter). since i live the RAINY STATE (florida) i am buying a bypass valve that will fit my intake from aem.

honestly man...if you live in a rainy state you shouldve just bought a short ram
the bypass is gonna basically make it that anyways if i were you id just cut the tube and mount the filter higher up when youre past the rainy times put the extension back on w/ a rubber connector |

I think that the filter matters a lot, but piping bends, length, diameter are important. I doubt AEM, Injen, etc. would spend big money in R&D if only the filter mattered.

sorry but I will have to disagree with u here. The filter and the air horn obviously are the most important part for making power, but AEM specifically tunes the length and the size of the piping to creates a tuned frequency. U see engineers have found that certain frequency's at certain RPM create pulses which help push air into the cylinders for more effective cylinder filling. AEM is the only company that I know that is so exact on their intakes. Granted the pipe size and length only matter approximately about 3-4 HP or so, but every little bit helps. Did anyone ever wonder why Chevy's fuel injection system on the 80's Camaro was called Tuned Port Injection??? |

Do what i did....Buy a filter...go to like Home Depot and buy a bent pipe...ram the filter on....ram it into the place of the old intake....and voila! you have an intake that is pretty much the same at a 20th of the price.

i just think that the tiny bit of hp that youre going to get out of a honda from an intake isnt worth spending big bucks on

that's called harmonic resonance, and yeah that is the factor in a cai. aem, injen, dc, k&n...really all the same. i personally think of those aem is the worst quality. i've had numerous ones of all those companies and injen and k&n are my fave. the mounting points and build quality are so much higher it seems. whether u got the intake from aem or bomz...they serve the same purpose. but the metal that the piping is made out of should be a little more heat resistant with the name brands and they do dyno test them, unlike bomz or ebay intakes.
