Great album from Tool. I like this better than aenima and laterlus.

Have owned it for a couple weeks but haven't unwrapped it yet. Waiting for a nice bud so I can put my earphones on and listen to it in the dark with my eyes closed.
Gotta carry on the tradition.

Yes sir. Makes the experience so much better.
I remember with Lateralus I almost had to turn it off, managed to make it through the whole disc tho. That last track scared the fuck outta me, I will admit that openly.
I remember skating by the river/university in the wee hours of the morning as well listening to that disc just blasted. Was probably the most peaceful tyme of my life.
I should start skating again...

I am not really a Tool fan and this is the first CD of theirs that I have actually purchased. I like parabola, lateralus and pushit, but that was about all I knew of Tool before this album. I listened to it once through on the interstate driving and frankly became bored with it. I like faster music like disturbed and mudvayne if it is going to be angry. However, after listening to it about two more times through it is starting to grow on me, but it still isn't my favorite.

I'd say it sounds like a harder, less melodic and less inspirational/insightful Pink Floyd album...

very much what i would expect from someone not a tool fan.. thats almost the same feelings i had about it except i really wanted to like it. i like the pink floyd relation, because that kinda is what it sounds like, more of a whole track/album than a collection of songs.

i'd check out opiate or aenma (both albums, numbers 1 and 3 respectivly) if you havnt herd that much tool. those might be my fav albums of thiers at this time, not really a single song i dont like on either. also off lateralus ticks and leeches is a great song not alot of people have herd, and i love 3rd eye eulogy and aenima on the album aenima, which none get radio play because of the 8+ min tracks. sober is on undertow, along with alot of other good ones, swamp song, 4 degrees.. i could go on.. the past albums have had great songs, this new one was more of a whole album... a masterpiece if you will. almost have to work your way into it.
