Well, what I do is if Im out with a guy, say we go out to dinner and a movie, I will offer to pay for the dinner...and when we go to the movie I'll offer to pay that. Now, if he insists on paying for the dinner and movie, he must be a true, true gentleman...and if he lets me pay for the dinner and movie...then I'll get a slight hint that he might just be a moocher...so then I'll have to watch how he is...
I like a guy who will pay for the dinner and movie but there will be times where I feel I should do it...I won't just drain a guy of his money...but he should pay the majority... That's one of my tests... |

Im kinda suprised at you that you test guys by if they pay or not... interesting. I paid for EVERYTHING with my ex for the first like 6mo-year, then it just became so expensive we started splitting things. It was also because we had moved out of the "we are dating so he pays" thing to "we act like we are married" thing... if that makes any sense. Anyway, off the subject of the ex, now I always pay for the first month or so worth of dates, but after that if SHE never offers to pay for anything, that is a sign to me as well. Not really a test, just something interesting to observe. I like a girl to offer to pay for things, it shows independence, just do NOT be taken aback if he accepts your offer, because then I ask you this; how genuine was your offer in the first place if you were hoping he wouldn't accept?

Ok, now, from what guys have told me, they don't like girls pying for anything becuase it make them look/feel broke and incompetent...my dad, to this day, tells me this...
I also had said that later on past the relationship...I'll chip in...but the majority of the time...he should be the one paying...why would you want a girl paying for your stuff anyway?? |

I'm with Shaggin...I usually pay for things cuz I'm just old school that way. It's just the way I grew up. That being said, I don't see how it matters who pays. I mean...if we're dating and I'm broke for a week does that mean we don't go out that week? If I met a chick like that you'd better bet I'd dump her ass. I think a girl at least offering to pay is almost a turn on...a sign of independence even if you have no intention of letting them pay. Oh...and also...you females can be expensive. Remember that when you expect a guy to pony up some cash for something. I don't have a problem doing nice things for a girl at all, but if it starts becoming an expectation then we've got a problem.

Ok...Im not talking about material things...I am talking about when you go out on a date (the movie and dinner thing). I don't ever expect a guy to buy me gifts/material things...it's just when you go out on dates I think he should pay. I buy my own material things...nobody else...that way if you break up with someone...that material thing sits there and reminds you of them....thats why I don't accept any gifts from guys really.
If I was goin out with a guy and he was broke...you damn right I would pay for him...that would be messed up to leave him hangin like that...I always offer to pay...but not all the time. |

I think whoever asked the other out on the date would pay but other than that, if I want to go out, I'll pay for myself. If you want to pay or split the bill, that's fine but I do NOT expect the guys to pay for anything. If you buy me a drink, I'll buy you a drink. Yeah, I agree, it's old school polite thing, fine, but not everytime we go out. That's just plain rude. If we do go out, I EXPECT to pay for myself and/or split the bill. That's just me.

When we go out my wife usually pays.. She always has cash on her unlike me.
We have seperate bank accounts. I pay all of the bills, and she usually buys the food and we go out and do stuff on her money. We never argue about money. I buy what I want, and she buys what she wants.
