electric superchargers

I just bought an electric supercharger off of ebay. you know the deal, spins at 8000rpms, supposed to increase hp and torque. Has anyone installed one on their car and seen any real gains. And does it sound tight?

the only one worthwhile is the esc, i saw a review in a magazine and they installed it in an altima and it gave it like 75 horse. It uses 3 brushless motors attached to a roots style blower. Anything other that is most likely a computer fan that fits in your intake.

you guys are kidding, right? This is equivelant to the "Supercharge your car for $19.95" advertisements in the back of car magazines. Its a whole load of crap, obviously. Just the same as that Tornado thing.

There was a website where some guys bought an "Electric supercharger" off ebay just for shits and installed just to prove that it was a load of crap. I remember it ended up just being some marine propeller thingy with some extra plastic mounting things that broke upon installation...god I wish I could find that site...somebody must have it bookmarked?

oh wise and powerful honda experts.
I spent like 110 dollars on it. Ya know what the funny thing about this is. I read that story too. They don't look too bright. I mean how can you justifiably say that something doesn't work when you buy the wrong part, put it on and not even cut your intake to make it fit. If thats the case my long intake doesn't work. I had to cut that, it was a bitch, but I made it work. So maybe I did waste my money on it. I learned one important thing, well I will or I won't depending on what will actually happen when I install this, I found another product that does't work. Maybe, I should take out my frustrations on it by beating it against the ground and frowning in front of a camera.

oh man, sorry to hear your mistake. i almost wanted one until i realized REAL supercharger are made of metal and they give you a bare minimum of 60 HP gain. lol. a SC i'd want is 4,000 but it would give me 400HP out of it, haha....

the aftermath

ok I got it in the mail and installed it today. It actually did some good except for one very important thing. (perhaps I wired it wrong. I dunno. im looking into it) but the second i started driving around with that thing on my car would not fucking stop. That poisonous device completely destroyed my brakes. I dont know why or how. But both wheels were smoking heavily. I just replaced the rotors and calipers so it could only be that supercharger. On a lighter note. I did notice a big difference believe it or not. But i really wouldn't recommend spending the money on this. The problem disappeared when I dissconnected it from my battery. Can someone please explain to me why this is happenning?

ok I solved that little problem, my dumbass put it on backwards well I put it on straight, and re did all the wiring. It came with a button but I went out and bought a switch, that way I dont have to change gears, steer, and hold down a button at the same time. I noticed a difference. But nothing really major. 10-20 hp gain. I dunno. I would recommend this part if you havee the money to spend, other than that. Its not worth it.

sorry man, but i refuse to believe that an electric fan installed in your air intake will do much of anything. Show me hard dyno numbers showing it makes any significant difference and then I'll take back everything I said.

But I do believe this thing puts out 10-20 psychological horsepower TO THE WHEELS.

im sure it's all pyschological, I mean it has the same idea as FI but just not nearly enough to make a difference especially 10-20hp probably more like .1-.2 hp gain... I wanna see some dynos now

^^ well, he bought first then asked...so technically he wasn't warned. but, oh well...

Surely there must be a dyno somewhere close to you, or at least a performance shop that knows where one is. But when you find one, you might have to deal with the ridicule from the employees when you go to put that thing in. Unless you tell them you aren't serious and think it won't do anything. maybe they'll get a laugh at IT instead of you.

Sorry man, I'm not bashing on you, just your purchase. I do respect your willingness to just try something and see if it works.
