Why humanity disgusts me

I took a trip home this weekend to relax, hang out and work a shift at my quasi-job (I don't really work there...just on occassion...whatever). About halfway through my 2 hour drive I got pulled over for doing 82 in a 65...not ticket so no big deal and the officerette was pretty cool. So about 20 miles or so down the road I come up about 1/2 mile or so behind a kid on a sport bike tailgating a car. They're in a no-passing zone (2 lane highway) and their about to crest a hill. Well...the kid decides he can't wait any longer and goes across the double yellow line and guns it...head on into a Ranger. The impact forces him off of the bike and through the windshield of the truck, nailing the driver which caused him to lose control, cross over a lane and flip a couple times down an embankment. Now I slammed on my brakes, pulled over, and got out as did two other guys going the opposite direction. The car that was in front of the bike just kept going. I checked on the guy in the truck...he had a faint pulse and was loosing a lot of blood from a large gash in his neck I can only guess was caused by the windshield. I turned around to check on the biker but the two other guys were already walking up toward me shaking their heads. So I grabbed my cell phone and tried to dial *47 (our highway emergency number) but wasn't getting any service (not much between Pittsbrug KS and Kansas City). So I went over and tried to wave people down to see if they had cell phones. After about 4 or 5 minutes and 20 cars not a single damn person had stopped. Eventually 3 more people stopped and one got service to make a call. It was a good 10-15 before Highway Patrol and ambulances showed up (including the officerette that had pulled me over earlier) and, while I don't know for certain what happened to the guy in the truck, with his injuries I'd be incredibly suprised if he made it. So...to conclude, had so many of these people not been douche bags passed me by while I was trying to wave them down (I even stood out in front of some of them...they just went around me) MAYBE this guy would've had a chance. Maybe they all had some place to be...but so did I and everyone else who stopped. I ended up being late for a date I'd been looking forward to all week but who cares? At least I made it alive. God damn people make me sick sometimes.

sad how most of the world is only out for their own gain, isnt it? I know I stop to help lots of people who are stranded on the side, let alone if I am a witness to an accident...its a rare thing to see others helping out.........people suck

I was thinking about that...but I don't live in Miami county and have NO idea where they took him. I did, however, get the guys info from one of the troopers and I'm gonna wait a day or two and call his wife to offer my sympathies (even if he's still alive, she's gotta be a wreck).

oh my freakin god man...when i was reading that i was almost shaking. That is some creepy stuff and that makes me VERY pissed off about the people that didn't stop. What if it was their family/friends in the accident and no one stopped to help them, how would they feel!?

UPDATE: A little while after I posted I ended up calling the guys wife. Unfortunately I ended up offering my condolences instead of "get well soon". Apparently the man died on the way to the hospital from the slashed jugular vein I saw. They'd been married for 15 years and have two kids. i guess he was about 10 minutes from home. Now I feel like tracking every one of those heartless f@ckers down and beating them within an inch of their pathetic lives. This is one more funeral I'd rather not go to this year...although of course I'm going to. Apparently the two other men who initially stopped will be there as well. All of this because some dumbass kid on a bike couldn't wait 100 yards to pass a car.

Wow, that's a very traumatic thing to witness. It's good to hear that you stopped to help, I don't know how I would have handled it. I have a weak stomach when it comes to situations like that. It's a shame people couldn't of stopped.

that ****ing sucks. I hate people like that, that won't stop. I find though a lot of people are scared to help. They think that they can't do anything for the people because they aren't "trained". which is very sad considering that no matter what they do, they still might have helped. Weather it be calling 911 or helping move stuff off the road. It still helps. We watched a semi roll one time on our way to a car show (that was 5 hours away) that had a full load of wood and housing supplies, we helped out cleaning the road, and even helped the driver. He was only 21 years old, but lived. And I agree with you GT, people are losers...very sad story.

Yeah that sucks...

People are just selfish... and don't think.

I've never been envolved with anything as serious but I've seen a couple of people cause an accident (that at least looked serious) and drive off... (I stopped both times (I was forced off the highway by one of the careening cars once.. 2 days before my wedding with 4 people in my car)That would've been fun).

Sorry to hear you had to witness that.
