Cat Eyes tails on my 98 Civic

I bought a pair of brand new Cat Eye tail lights for my 98 Civic @ the Slammin Jammin car show a couple weekends ago. Well, the installation was easy, but theres a problem. My stock tails had two seperate bulbs in the middle piece and the new ones only have one. My reverse lights work fine as long as my lights arent on, but when my lights are on, they dont light up. The middle pieces (on the trunk) dont light up at all. I paid $230 for these, and Im pretty ticked that they dont work the way I thought they should. Does anyone have this problem? Thanks.
