VXD problems

Ok...so I'm using this shitty computer with shitty Win 98 on it while I'm back in KC. The problem is that about 15 minutes or so of using it, it throws me a bunch of VXD errors and either crashes or locks up completely. I guess I have a vague idea of what VXD controllers do...something about virtual drives and other bullshit. My question is how can I make them go away? Or, for that matter, can I make them go away and still retain normal computer usage. The blue screen of death doesn't really tell me where the problems are and Microsoft's help page is like reading stereo instructions. Fuck. Anyone got an idea?
