Painting engine parts questions...
It should be alright to paint the lids of my clutch fluid reservoir, brake fluid and power steering reservoir with red engine paint right? It shouldn't post any danger, correct me if im' wrong...

nope. the lids have some small holes in them to let the air in when you press the pedals. by painting them you would obturate the holes, and not let the air in.

I wouldnt do it anyhow.
If you do You have to be very careful about cleaning everything off really, really good of its just going to peel off, and look nasty.

Prep it. You have to spend the time to get the surfaces sanded & primed (if needed). Otherwise it'll look pretty shoddy. I painted some parts in my EX when I had it. A friend of mine did alot of the parts in his truck. DUPLI-COLOR ENGINE ENAMEL. Great stuff.

I know this guy that painted his neon (
 ) with a like bright yellow.. He was stupid about it annd didnt clean them before and then one night he was racing a truck against me ( 5 litre V8 F-150) and the paint wasnt REALLY made to be put on the engine (he put it on the manifold and it heated it) then the car started smokin and almost hit a mailbox..... So i would suggest make sure it is engine paint before putting it on anything beneath the hood.

Use high temp paint.. and why don't you guys powdercoat stuff?? It's the greatest invention in the world.. looks as good as paint, and hard as a rock.. doesn't ship/flake/peel..or anything..cheap too...

Only bad part about powdercoating is that it generally doesn't shine like a good engine enamel does.
Otherwise its definately a good investment. I'm not much for "bling bling" myself....

One thing about painting the brake master cylinder and/or cover is Dot3 brake fluid is more potent than any paint stripper you can get.The paint will bubble up first spec of brake fluid you get on it.So I would definetl not paint any master cylinder or its cover.

If you are going to do anything to your master cylinder covers just get some socks from spoon.. I got them in blue and they look great. It's almost like a sweatband that you put over the cover.
