Tonight I got all set to go run some errands and damned if my truck wouldn't start. I had power for lights, gauges, stereo...it just wouldn't turn over enough to start. So I went next door and asked one of the girls there if she could give me a jump. She was really nice and said sure even though it was around 25 degrees out (I had no jacket because I've got balls to spare). I popped my hood and lifted it and she popped her hood and just stood in front of the car staring at it. I asked her if something was wrong and she said (I shit you not) "How do I open it now?". I stuck my hand between the grill and hood (not an easy task since it was a Mazda which means the hood release was 6" back) and popped it open like fuckin Mr. Wizard since she was all amazed (again, I quote, "Ohhhhh, so that's how you do it"). God firbid this girl ever breaks down somewhere. I hate to rip on her because she really was nice, but shit...so many women complain of getting taken advantage of by mechanics yet they avoid any sort of car tips like rape. You don't get to have it both ways. Either you learn about cars or shut your fucking mouth when a mechanic jacks up the price. Period.

thats just how most women are, sure there's a few exceptions, but most women care about cars as much as I care about purses.

Yeah. My ex pretended to be into cars. Then I did 2 swaps in my garage. And she was no where to be found. In fact. She got mad at me for working on the cars.....

yeah i could careless if a chick is into cars, most of the time if they are it seems like they're just out to impress someone.

I am/was going to a tech school for cars and we had some chicks at the other campus (was at a "regular" campus covering everything now in a manufacter program) it seemed like some didn't care & some were truely intrested in cars and the ones that were into cars some seemed to carry a "I gota prove myself" attitude were with me you prove yourself by truely showing it not with I got to out do everyone else because Im a girl

Oh I'm not saying they've gotta be into cars. Far from it. But a little base knowledge isn't a bad thing. Know how to change oil, jump a battery, check fluids, and...perhaps most importantly...know how to open your fucking hood. She doesn't need to know how to swap a motor or throw in a turbo (although that would be hot), just some basic stuff.

I have to say this about my wife.. Atleast she knows how to pop the hood and check the fluids, etc. She doesn't like to do it because it makes her hands dirty, but she does know how.
