Scanners?
I was just reading some stuff on a website, and they were talking about mobile police scanners. Anyone ever use these? Any luck with them? The Uniden Bearcat was the one they were talking about.

a friend of mine has a scanner, some cheapo radio shack unit but it works....it picks up on cell phone calls too, and its not illegal to listen in on cell phone conversations cuz you dont own the airwaves

I just thought it might be something fun to play with when I was in my car. I don't want an external antenna though. I was hoping to mount something in the glove box, but I don't know about that. Maybe somewhere in the console.

I recently got the Uniden Bearcat police scanner a week or so ago. They are fun to play around with. I've listened to some crazy s*it the first night I got it. Someone got arrested for marijuana posession and someone else a lil later for havin a hand gun

And its legal to listen in on anybody with this? Also, does the bearcat have an antenna? Which model did you get?

Mine has an antenna...it's a BC60XLT1. Is it legal.....I'm not sure. I didn't think so but a friend said it's legal to listen in as long as you're not using it in a crime....which makes sense. No one ones the air waves. But I'm not sure

dont think its legal to monitor police calls.....but you can legally listen in on cell phone conversations because the people using the cell phone dont own the airwaves.
