That's 'cause you're a pussy. Sure...they're the size of a dinner plate, but they rarely bite and they're not even poisonous. I plan on keeping one as a pet someday...right after I get my sloth (3 toed, of course).

My mom had a similar situation happen to her recently. She went to pull the trash can out and there was a huge brown spider, similar to that but a little different. She said it took almost an entire can of bug spray to kill it. This was inside the house.

I'll never understand what freaks people out so much about spiders. It's not like biting you is the first thing on their minds...and even if it was, most of their bites don't hurt any more than a bee sting. Judging from the pic and where you live Rob, it's probably just some sort of tarantula. Nothing that can kill ya. I'd be much more worried about things like hornets. Any creature with special chemicals in it's venom that activate pain receptors is just evil.

yeah its a tarantula, the only reason i killed it was because it was with in a few feet of the door and there's no way in hell i could be comfortable knowing that that buger might end up inside the house. the bite wasn't really what i was worried about it was the cardiac arrest it might put me in if i stumbled across it in the dark on my way to the bathroom :o . i did feel kinda bad about killing it.

Yeah...I won't kill anything unless it poses a threat or it's trying to attack me. Otherwise it's just doing it's thing. I don't think I would appreciater it much if I was just hanging out and someone squashed or gased me.
