My First Honda, a 1986 Accord.. I think I got lucky
Okay.. so I finally find a Honda from a private owner at a
reasonable price. ( $1000, I am basically a working poor guy ) Car looked to be in decent shape for that year.. some rust but not real bad, engine sounded good. While looking at the car I discovered that its a Canadian model ( I am in the US ) This is the first time I have ran across this.. so I think nothing of it and buy the car. The next day I remember that odometers get changed when importing to the US... crap.. odometer read 135200.. who knows what it really is? So I start thinking and researching... finally I decided to take the car for a ride and pay attention to the odometer... well.. lookie here... the damn thing is not miles at all.. its in Kilometers. The chick I bought the car from thought it was miles.. and was changing the oil every 3000 miles ( or what she thought was miles ) Then I examined the wear on the car closely... the cloth drivers seat is in brand new mint condition... as are all the other seats. The gas and break petels have no wear on them. The original owners manual was in the glove box as well. Yeah.. I cant be sure about this.. but it looks like I got lucky as hell. I am gonna order a carfax report in a couple of days.. I cant order one tonight because I gotta put some money in my account first. I really wanted a Honda bad.. Its my first non-Ford vehicle... I need something thats gonna last. I was just gonna drive it untill the body rusted to bad... but now I think I am gonna get the rust cut out and replaced with sheet metel or after market body parts. Since this is my first Honda I will be around posting questions as they come up.. because I know nothing about this car. Peace Rich |

FYI-There are no aftermarket parts for your car, just in case you are looking to turn it into a speedster But it should be a good running dependable car that will get you from point A to point B.

now do you mean that this car was made in canada, or that this car was bought and then imported used to the U.S. Because a lot of hondas are made at a canada plant and then sent here. thats how mine is, its got 'Honda of Canada' on the labels, but mine was bought new from a lot in Arizona.
