Got caught racing on Hunts Point..........
......on saturday night. I got two tickets one for an unauthorized speed contest and one for creating a hazardous condition. Those are both criminal offenses in the state of New York. Does anybody know what kind of trouble I looking at?
P.S I don't excatly have the CLEANEST driving record.

hefty tickets and yes you will be looking at insurance increases, no doubt for those two offenses. you do the court thing, they give you a price to pay and/or sentence you to something but it all depends on your record. you asked to go to court and pay a fine usually. but if you weren't arrested, i don't think you are looking at jail time.

dunno about NY but..
ive been nabbed in NJ on more than one occasion, and they let me go.. i didn't run at all.. i know people who have gotten tickets.. for racing.. and basicly they just went to court and spoke to the prosecuter, and pleaded guilty to a lesser charge... more cash, no criminal charge, and no points.. i don't know how leniant NY courts are, but i know that ALL courts want to avoid "trials" at all costs.. so if they can get an admitance of guilt on SOMETHING they will NORMALLY work with you... they have SO many people they want to get you in and out... and if you don't have the cash don't sweat it.. courts are pretty leniant with that also.. they ALL demand some kind of down payment.. but they mostly all will set up some type of payment arangement with you.. the best way i can help you is if you post the EXACT code that you broke.. then i can try to find out what the possible sentance is.. all my resources are NJ based but im sure i can get the info on NY shit to.. |
