Check my Catch-Can setup?
I MS Paint....can you tell?
Alrighty...let me explain whats going on... On the back of the block, Ive removed the two 14mm plugs and will be using the anti-syphon Endyn/Honda fittings, to run the lines to the Endyn breather. Then, instead of an open drain, I'll run it as suggested, with drain-back, but with a larger hose, to prevent overflow (which seems to be the problem with the setup, under hard runs). (In reality, the drain-back hose will T into the passenger side hose, not the driver, as indicated, and will connect closer to the block) On the valve cover, more venting! Also to keep overflow in check. From all my readings, it seems that using a 2nd can OR larger diameter drain-back alone will prevent overflow, but since its my daily, I wanted to use both. (Oh, and I might even just block the original valve cover breather, instead of an open breather filter.) Anyway, I was going to use a manual drain (no drain-back) on the VC can, because it seems to be more of "insurance" rather than more "catching"...so in theory, it shouldnt need to be drained much, if at all. AND...because of that, I was looking at a small, cheap can from JAZ https://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stor...tegoryId=16163 |

There are so many people complaining about overflow just using the block fittings...I dont want to take any chances.
Gotta remember, the whole basis of this build is "Im going overboard" |

Pat, not a bad idea at all. Many people nowadays do use 2 cans. My only recommendation is to route the drain by itself back to the oil pan instead, to cancel out "traffic" in that T under heavy load.
I'm not sure if you've seen my set-up, I use an evacuation system via scavenging method which is tapped on the exhaust side. I left those 14mm plugs alone since 2 of my boosted friends had to empty their shit all the time.... yours should "auto" return back as you illustrated. But I know that you have no choice since your block doesnt have a PCV box. .... and that mini catch can is really nice. I like it. I see it on DSM guys all the time..... |

I was thinking about having it go to the pan directly, for drainback...but Im already looking at 2 holes (turbo return and temp)...my pan is going to be like swiss cheese
Looking at fittings for the valve cover right now: Think I can get away with this style of fitting: Or should I get: I almost feel like the first should be fine for this setup, since "flow" isnt really a factor (plus theyre half the price as the 2nd one) |

Either one will work. What size barb is that bro? I tapped my oil temp sensor from the sandwich adaptor.

Either will be a 3/8 barb, which matches the ports on the little jaz can
I actually found a drain plug tonight that works as a temp sensor (correct pitch and everything) |

Got the jaz breather and fittings today (I bought them yesterday...jegs is fast!)
The canister is pretty neat. I think its worth the money I paid for it, and the fittings arent too shabby either Now though, I have a simple question, with hopefully a simple answer (probably just something Ive not figured out on my own): What do I do with the PCV valve hole in the top of the valvecover? Should I just connect a pcv valve and run it to a T on either of the can's lines? Plug it (and with.....?) |

Yeah, that is what most people have done. Have have T'd it off and some have plugged it. You dont really need to place a PCV valve there anymore since you are geting ready to drill 2 more holes. Same function. Once you tap that existing PCV hole to a catch-can, the chance of a back flow will no longer exist due to air escaping from the filter (on the catch-can).
Pat, another thing to consider with those 2 front holes that you are getting ready to drill is the fact that Ramhorn style manifolds will be on the way. The U shape area of the Ramhorn style manifolds will block that area. That is why most people with ramhorn manifolds are tapping those 2 fittings at the back side of the valve cover instead. |

Right. I know I keep indicating front, but they will actually go on the backside of the manifold.
So now I just need to find something to plug the hole with... |

Just go to the PCV section of any local automotive parts store. They have plugs bro. I've seen it before. I'll check it out on my next trip.... or you can always tap threads on it and slap a standard NPT plug.
