"The Bush Administration aims to recruit millions of United States citizens as domestic informants in a program likely to alarm civil liberties groups."
this doesn't sound like old news to me |

pretty disturbing, but I'm not surprised. How much you wanna bet the recruiting process will push the idea "sign up and be a narc or your not patriotic!" I hate this new crap.
OR... maybe its just a plot to make potential terrorists or for that matter criminals paranoid about everyone? but wait a minute, would a system like this have prevented previous events? wtc? OK city? previous wtc attacks? No. A smart terrorist (and these terrorists are smart) know how to be discreet. Untrained civilians wouldn't pick up on any terroristic activity. They would see someone foreign and cry wolf. Maybe they would pick up on normal crime, but thats not really the intended purpose. anyway...yes america is changing. and its not in the best interests of law-abiding citizens. Ignorance is our governments best weapon. We're shooting ourselves... |

Thats incredibly unsettling. I can't believe and am outraged at the effect on everyone's lives that the government has allowed Sept. 11 to have. Don't they see, this is what their intentions were. They are trying to destroy our democracy and everything we believe in, and by creating a civil spy corps it only further destroys the democracy. I swear, if this country doesn't get back on the right track its going to become Japan #2... for those of you who don't know- Japan used to be a world super-power before its economy collapsed- it is in the midst of a 12year downturn in the economy, bordering on depression... I really thought Bush would do a good job, and Im a very conservative republican... but damn hes screwing lots of stuff up...

Thats ok.. I believe there is going to be some hell going on between the government branches sooner or later. Bush may trying to do good but he's stepping on a lot of toes in the process.. This should get interesting.

Ditto. Wow, how can anyone read Brave new world and not notice what's going on in our country?

Don't worry, they'll recruit some terrorists as well, probably by accident. Ahhhhh there's no information like disinformation.

Its almost as disturbing as the rumor that, in order to fight piracy, the MPAA and RIAA have proposed that the government require all computers to have government software in the firmware that restricts cd-burning, cd playing, video manipulation, image editing, etc. etc. THEY ACTUALLY PROPOSED THIS!! They could also claim that this would help with cracking down on terrorism? Wha-a??!! What is going on lately? Our rights as we know it are starting to disappear. Its going to get worse...

Hahahaha....you think that's bad, eh? Well maybe you should check the latest bill proposals in the US Congress. A bill has been proposed by some CA Dem Senator or Rep, forgot which house, to allow large media companies and copyright holders to HACK peer-to-peer services to prevent songs from being illegally traded.
Funny how we prosecute people for hacking then develop a bill to encourage hacking. This reminds me of the good old vigilante....throw due process out the window and take matters into your own hands. Oh well, they're still fighting a losing battle unless they're willing to follow basic economic principles of supply and demand in their pricing structure. Not many people demand crappy music, therefore the price of it ought to be low. b |
