airfreshener damage

I found out the hard way that those tree cutout airfresheners are corrosive to the thin vinyl covering of the front console cover of my 1998 Accord. I got into my car today and several areas were crinkled and could be scaped off with the finger. The only remedy is probably a new part. So this is a warning to the wise not to let these airfresheners touch the interior.
