so me and a friend of mine are looking at starting a little business, and we're trying to see if our name is copyrighted or anything. anyone know how to find out if its taken?

I think there is some govt organization in charge of all that stuff - a friend of mine had to check that stuff when he started "Defiant Wheels" a skateboard wheel designer. Check them out at www.defiantwheels.com

I don't know how it is where you live, but in Memphis I had to go to the county records office to register a name... its like $25...

maybe the better business bureau might have something of that nature. I don't know the web address to it but I know you can find it in like half a second on any search engine.

any CPA Should be able to tell you if the name of the business you are thinking about starting is copyrighted or available
