Carbon Fiber?
What do you guys think of carbon fiber hoods? Pros/Cons? looks good bad? I got my insurance check yesterday and now i think i might have a little left over to do somethings with. Maybe the hood or cam gears or decent intake. Found the hood on ebay

CAI or hood? Uhm, there's a MAJOR price difference. What kind of car is it and what sort of rims do you have? I think CF only goods good on certain cars with rim combos. On some cars, CF just looks dumb and cheap IMHO. But, a CF hood should work well ona pearl white car if that's your liking bro.

cf hoods are a very nice addition imo
but Id stay away from ebay brands...quality wouldnt seem very high for that price. Check out VIS or FiberImages (FI proves their hoods by running it over in a video) |

Paint it and call it a day.
I'd buy cheap... as long as it stops rain from hitting your engine and it doesn't fly up on you on the highway... who cares... The majority of differences are whether or not it's ALL cf or a fiberglass core with a top layer of CF... email him and ask if it's solid cf... if so I'd get it and paint it... Also it doesn't mention the weight which is just about the ONLY important factor in my mind... I'd also prefer one that doesn't require hood pins (as I don't like how they look)...

I don't like advertising ANYTHING I do to my car... I also don't really like the look of it un-painted... it looks good on some colors but I have a teal green coupe so I think it would look dumb w/o paint. Also a CF hood is a high dollar item... if you have one of those MANY will assume you've spent equal money on the rest of the car... so they steal it. Oh and CF takes paint MUCH better than plasitc (abs/urethane) and fiberglass... So it won't look "off" like fiberglass usually does. shaved/&orlaid... What does "feh" mean?

cf hoods look best on black, i think... it's a lot more clean, but you can still see the weave. this way, you don't have to paint it to match, and you still see the weave anyway.
do make sure you have an alarm system... |

if you get a real cf hood(i'm sure the one on the si is fake) watch
out for dents... real cf is VERY weak and could easily bend with minimal weight. get a cf hood if you're really racing your car, but if you're just going for the looks, get the cf-styles like the one you posted. |

definitely agree... i got real carbon fiber, even tho i really don't race, and there were ripples in it when it came outta the box after being shipped... they're barely noticalbe, but i'm sure it'll get worse over time |
